On Friday, September 23rd, my amazingly wonderful 62-year-old grandmother, Amy Myers, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This comes as a huge & frightening surprise to our whole family!
My grandma has 5 kids and split up among them 11 grandchildren. She has a heart of gold and has always wanted to create lasting memories with all of her grandkids. Even when she was suffering with other health problems she would always find a way to do something special and one-on-one with all her kids and grandkids when we came to visit… and trust me we always wanted to visit Grandma and Pop-pop!! J
My grandma’s love has always shown through in her personality. She currently works at the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast, where she has won over the hearts of hundreds of other children that have adopted her as their own Grandma over the years she has worked there. She intends to continue working throughout treatment, with the okay from her doctors, but with her weakened immune system it may not be a good idea to be tending to all those runny noses and therefore she may be forced to take off work, only further adding to the financial pressure.
When you add up the costs of health care insurance premiums, plus the out-of-pocket costs of surgery, chemotherapy & radiation treatment, along with the medications needed to battle cancer, you realize just how hard this fight will be not only physically and emotionally, but also financially.
With all of that being said we would be honored to accept any donation and prayers on her behalf. She’s a bright light for hundreds and the world is a better place with her here. We are ready to win this battle.
