I HATE that it has come to this. Asking for help doesn't come easy for me, let alone admitting I need it in the first place.
In October 2016, I tore my ACL. I wasn't skiing, or playing basketball or doing anything remarkable, but years of wear and tear and crap genetics caught up to me. Thanks to a shoddy healthcare management system in the state of CT, I kept losing my insurance due to human error, paperwork issues, etc, and couldn't get the needed surgery to replace my ACL right away. After escalating my issue to the CT State Attorney's office, I finally had insurance! And I scheduled my surgery.
On July 10, I had my ACL replaced. Once he got in there, my surgeon also saw my miniscus was damaged, and repaired that also. A success!
I work 3 jobs to make ends meet in this economy. I support myself, live meagerly with my two cats and roommates, and I don't travel or vacation hardly ever. My main job (barista in a local restaurant) is for a small family owned business and doesn't offer benefits such as sick time, vacation time, etc, as most small businesses don't. And I don't blame them. So my time off after surgery was unpaid. I worked my butt off prior to my surgery to create a savings for while I was off, but after my scheduled 2 weeks off, I returned to work...WAY too early. My pain and swelling increased, and I was very concerned about causing damage being on my feet 5 days a week. So, I made the executive decision, for my health, to take more time out of work, and dropped myself down to two nights a week for another 2 weeks.
So here I am, recovering, doing physical therapy, but with practically no income for a full month. I'm not looking for a hand out, just some help paying my bills and putting groceries in my fridge. Anything helps, and I greatly appreciate anything anyone can do. <3
