My name is Amy Dixon and I’m a member of the US paratriathlon national team training and racing towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in the sport of triathlon.

I am a visually impaired competitor and race internationally with a female volunteer athlete who serves as my guide and my eyes while I swim bike and run in tandem with her.   I lost my sight to a rare autoimmune condition, combined with Uveitis and Glaucoma.  I have undergone chemotherapy and 33 surgeries to save my small piece of remaining sight, essentially 2% of tunnel vision.  I continue these treatments every three months, enabling me to balance surgery in the USA while racing hard overseas.  Triathlon has given me a new path forward and I'm grateful that I get to represent my country as a professional athlete despite overwhelming odds.  And,  I need your help.  Racing at the elite level is very expensive, and I currently need financial support to race and train and represent the USA internationally.

I am currently ranked number six in the world and number two in the United States. This level of dedication and sacrifice and training involves hundreds and hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars to get to the starting line.   An average season racing overseas costs nearly $65,000 per year. While some race expenses are covered through USA Triathlon , training above $300/ month for me and my guide isn't paid for.  Guide Kirsten Sass and I live 1700 miles apart, making that a tremendous logistic and financial burden.

Every single dollar helps us. It can help with sports medicine, nutrition, coaching, bike repairs, car rentals, hotels, airfare and more.

Be a part of my team to the Tokyo 2020 Games.  I cannot do this without the help of hundreds of friends, family, companies and supporters like you.  I LOVE to speak to organizations such as universities, companies in many fields, especially medical technology and pharmacy, schools, Lion's Clubs and more. While  it pains me to ask for help, it feels MUCH better to be able to do something for YOU or your company than to simply accept a donation.  So please- hire me to speak!!!  Thank you for your support and I look forward to representing the United States on the biggest stage of the world.

Guys! THANK YOU all for your support! I had a few LARGE financial setbacks this past month.
1- I hit the podium in Florida, winning bronze, but there were not enough athletes racing to qualify for expense reimbursement by Team USA.
2- a Major sponsor decided to hold off on support until next season, leaving me scrambling to pay current bills
3- We made some major equipment changes to my tandem, costing thousands of dollars in new parts and labor.
4- I had some big health setbacks that depleted my 'backup cushion'.

This isn't meant as a 'pity party' by all means. But the stark reality is that I need support. And I want that support in the form of hiring me to speak to your organization. What can I do for YOU? How can I inspire your organization? Show them the way forward when facing obstacles? Teach them skill sets to lead when things get hard. Teach them about inclusion of employees and coworkers of every ability.

Hiring me to speak or donating is critical to my success as an athlete going forward. I need to train to be the best. Keep my body in the best possible form it can be. Keep my bike in the best condition possible. Pay for travel when I need to race to earn points towards Tokyo and defend my #6 world ranking. Be a part of that. Let's talk!
