Help Me Attend Hambidge Residency

Dear Community,
My name is Amir Rabiyah and I am a disabled, mixed-race, queer and transgender poet. For over five years, I have wanted to/and have attempted to get into the Hambidge Artist Residency, situated in the mountains of north Georgia. This year, after a great deal of perserverence, I made it onto the wait list. And just a few days ago, I received word that I have been officially accepted! I'm really happy that after so many years, I finally got in. However, because I was initially on the wait list, there are no more scholarships available. This means that I need support from you in order to attend. The residency is next month, from February 23rd-March 6th. I am trying to gather the funds together as soon as possible in order to make sure I can go.
As a disabled queer and trans person of color, I am often broke and I struggle financially. It's difficult to find steady work that I can do from home. I generally have little money left over after I pay my bills. I think that all of us should have access to workshops, residencies, and gatherings that feed our spirits and help us thrive. And this is why I'm reaching out to you. It's hard for me to ask for help, but I know that this is part of my own growth too. Your support, whether it's financial, spreading the word, or just cheering me on means a great deal to me. While at this residency, I will work on completing my collection of poetry, The Disappeared. The Disappeared is a queer retelling of the story of Jonah and the Whale; it's a story about ancestral memory, the pain of being a refugee and redemption. I've been working on this manuscript for over six years, and my goal this year is to complete it. This residency will give me the time and space I need to finish my book.
This is the financial breakdown:
$400 to cover the cost of the residency
$400 to cover the cost of roundtrip airfare from San Diego to Georgia.
$100 in fees from GoFundMe
$50 for tips for wheelchair assistants and money towards gas for people who give me rides.
Any extra money raised will cover the cost of food and additional ground transportation.
