Amanda's Cervivor School Trip

Two years ago, at the age of 34, I was told I had cervical cancer caused by the HPV virus. I underwent a radical hysterectomy, five rounds of chemotherapy, and 28 rounds of external radiation. I went through a lot emotionally and physically. I lost my fertility and gained a high level of anxiety, BUT I survived.
Since dealing with cervical cancer I've met many amazing women who have similar stories to mine and became part of a non-profit organization called Cervivor. Cervivor works to educate women about cervical cancer, HPV, and the HPV vaccine. It also helps by reaching out to women facing cervical cancer so they have a community of women to talk to who understand what they are going through.
I can not tell you how much Cervivor means to me. Last summer I was given a scholarship to go to Cervivor School in Louisville, Kentucky. Cervivor School brings together women who've dealt with cervical cancer and educates them to become advocates to help spread the word about this disease so we can help others. I met so many amazing ladies who I now consider life-long friends. It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life.
This June, Cervivor is hosting an even bigger Cervivor school event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It's another opportunity for me to not only gain more education and understanding to help other women, but also to meet and bond with even more women like myself who've gone through cervical cancer. Cervivor School is so much more than a gathering, it's therapeutic and healing.
I don't normally ask for money from others. It honestly is taking a lot for me to start this GoFundMe, but this year I can't afford to get there on my own. If you can, I hope you will support me and help me get to Cervivor School Fort Lauderdale this June. If I reach my goal, any money leftover from my trip will be donated directly to Cervivor. The strength and the confidence they've given me is a blessing.
