Amanda's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Just over a month ago, Amanda had the happiest celebration marrying the love of her life. The couple, along with their beautiful daughter, Aria, should have been enjoying the start of their new exciting life together but instead endured one of the toughest tests of strength and love.

A little over three weeks into their new life, Amanda was struck down by a mystery virus. She was admitted to ICU and was on life support fighting for her life.

Days had passed, the virus had taken hold, the pneumonia was so severe she had developed Acute Respiratory Distress, she still had a way to go to recovering, however, she was still fighting.

Family took time off to be by her side, cooked meals, looked after Aria while Ben put in double shifts at work whilst trying to stay positive for Amanda and prayed she would come through this stronger than ever. Aria sat by her mother's bedside praying and never lost hope.

Weeks later, the Doctors were able to take Amanda off the ventilator and she was able to start breathing on her own with the aid of oxygen, a huge step in the right direction. After waking Amanda was able to talk a little and was having help from a Speech Pathologist for this and to help her learn how to swallow again. Amanda remained in ICU but continued to improve, however, the Doctors advised that because of the amount of drugs Amanda had things will take quite a while to get back to some resemblance to normal.

Amanda has now been moved out of ICU and is awake, she will remain in hospital to recover.

Amanda is a community service worker and we are now asking for community support to assist Amanda and her family with general everyday living expenses such as their rent, car payment, school fees for Aria, utilities and general living expenses whilst she is unable to work.

Every little bit counts, your support is greatly appreciated.
