Althea's Tropical Delights is raising money to help us survive the economic crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We sell exotic rum cakes using tropical fruits and all-natural ingredients baked from scratch. In the past, we raised funds to assist Althea's beautiful island, Dominica, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Once again, Althea finds her community devastated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has shifted her company to provide meals to New York City hospital staff and essential workers at the front-line of this pandemic who are selflessly saving lives and providing comfort.
Unfortunately, like many other businesses in the restaurant industry, Althea's Tropical Delights has been impacted by this pandemic. Since the spread, we have been limited to online sales only. We have not been fortunate enough to receive government funding or grants. The loans we've seen currently proposed by state and federal government are not an option for us even as a small business.
We have been tremendously blessed to have the best customers supporting our growth over the last year and a half, and we have been humbled that many of you have graciously asked how you can help us during this incredibly difficult time. In response to that, we have created this fund to raise money so we can make it through this storm and make sure we can ultimately reach our goal, which is to keep this business afloat.
We love what we do because baking brings happiness to us, our customers, friends and family - and we want to continue doing what we love. But most of all, we want to conquer this incredible moment in time.
Please donate what you can; no donation is too small and we are truly grateful. If you are unable to donate, there are other ways to support us and other small businesses like us, such as making purchases online or even sharing this with anyone that you think may be interested in contributing.
In the meantime, we will continue serving our community and look forward to bringing the sweet taste of the Caribbean to you! <3
