Our beautiful Allie fought as long as she could, but that wasn’t God’s plan.

Allie passed away yesterday afternoon (October 28), but she will be in our hearts forever. She never came out of the coma, and couldn’t battle the complications from pneumonia. Heaven has gained a beautiful guardian angel, and we continue to seek peace in God’s plan for our sweet girl.

We thank each and every one of you for all of the love, support, comfort, and prayers you have provided for us and Allie during this time. We are truly grateful and blessed to have met so many amazing people through this tragedy. God bless all of you.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

We are reaching out to all to help our dear friend Cindy Brodie as we all pray for the recovery of her daughter Allie.  Allie is in a coma in Alabama.  Cindy and her family are by her side.

Saturday October 7 started off as a wonderful day for our beautiful Allie Brodie.  She played in a soccer game with her new friends that she recently met while starting her Freshman year at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.    She was so excited to be part of the Crimson Tide and loved all of her new “Bamaly” and sorority sisters, although she sorely missed her twin sister Nichole who was off at to Kings College in London as well as her Mom, sister Caroline, and puppy Cody back home across the country in Danville, Ca.

But that all changed when a ball unexpectedly hit her head during the soccer game.  Over the next several days she suffered progressively worsening symptoms, culminating in diagnosis that led her to the operating room at DCH hospital in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday.  The emergency surgery for intracranial hemorrhage required her to be put into a medically induced coma and led to a diagnosis of a very serious condition:  brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a condition she was born with. The trauma of being hit by the soccer ball and AVM triggered internal bleeding in her brain stem.

Info on AVM

As of today, she remains in the coma following a second surgery.  We’re hopeful that a transfer to the University of Alabama Medical Center can provide her access to specialists that can expedite her recovery.

Please help Allie and her family during this horrible time.

First, please pray for Allie’s recovery.

It’s so important that her family and friends stay by Allie’s side to support her 24/7.   Soaring medical expenses, long distance travel, hotels, and missed jobs  all add up.  We’d like your help to provide some financial relief for this horrible situation.

Please pray for Allie, and if possible, please contribute what you can to the Allie Brodie Family fund.

Feel free to contact me if I can provide you any other information.

Thank you.

At Cindy Brodie's request, Carol Winkley, Cindy mother, has been set up to receive the donations from the Allie Broadie Family Fund on behalf of Cindy, and to help her manage them during this difficult period for Cindy and her family. Carol is accepting the money in her name, but will disburse the money as requested by Cindy. As you can imagine, it's just too difficult for Cindy to do these things at this time.

Cindy wishes to again thank everyone for their prayers and support.
