Fallen Tree Causes Double-fatality in Russellville...

Russellville Fire Marshal Richard Setian issued a late afternoon media release on a incident that resulted in two deaths. At approximately 1:30PM Russellville Fire Dept. units E1, L1, and E2, under the command of Battalion Chief Brent Hamm, responded to 4100 West Main St on a report of a large tree on a mobile home. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fallen tree on the home with three occupants trapped inside. A crane service was summoned due to the size of the tree. Upon removal of the tree, firefighters extricated three victims. Two victims (mother and male child) were deceased and the third (female child) in critical condition. The identities of those involved have not yet been released. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Obituary: Landon Huggins

Landon Alan Huggins, 9, of Russellville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at his residence.

A son of Christopher and Alisha Jo (Jennen) Huggins, he was born July 3, 2009, in Russellville.

He attended the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church and was a third grade student at Crawford Elementary School. He loved desserts, digging holes, playing with his sisters and especially loved Jesus. He loved to sing and dance for all to see and hear.

Landon was preceded in death by his mother, Alisha Jo Huggins; two sisters, Aurora Faith Huggins and Sarah Ann-Grace Huggins; and a brother, Michael Allen Barnes.

He is survived by his father, Christopher Alan Huggins; his twin sister, Anna Huggins of Russellville; three other sisters, Abigail Huggins of Russellville, and Dixie Huggins and Elizabeth Huggins, both of Lamar; and a brother, Owen Huggins of Russellville.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at The Journey Church, 3001 East "H" Street, in Russellville, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev. Shane Chancellor will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Alisha Jo (Jennen) Huggins, 28, of Russellville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at her residence.

The daughter of Samuel and Debra Kay (Jennen) Hughes, she was born Sept. 23, 1989, in Russellville.

She was a 2008 graduate of Russellville High School and attended beauty college. She was married to Christopher Alan Huggins, and worked at Arkansas Building Services & Facility Solutions of Russellville.

Alisha was preceded in death by her son, Landon Alan Huggins; a brother, Eric Lee Hughes; a great grandfather, Don Baldwin; and a great grandmother, Alice Baldwin.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Anna Huggins and Abigail Huggins, both of Russellville; a son, Owen Huggins of Russellville; her sister, Kaytlin Jennen; a brother, Kristopher Jennen; her mother, Debra Jennen; her dad, David Hughes, both of Russellville; her father, Rick Jennen of Russellville; her granddad, John Jennen; and her grandmother, Joanne Mack of Morrilton.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at The Journey Church, 3001 East "H" Street, in Russellville, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev. Shane Chancellor will officiate.
