Alex's Fluffy Buddies For kids❤

$24,100 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 740 people in 17 months
Alex was diagnosed with epilepsy at 11 months old.  She's had many hospital visits/ stays, testing, and rides in an ambulance due to her seizures that require immediate medical intervention at the onset of a seizure. Her beloved teddy bear,  Sky Bear, has been by her side since birth and has brought her great comfort when she needed it most.

When Alex was 4 years old, she had medical testing that required a week stay in hospital.  During this stay she noticed there were kids that didn't have a fluffy buddy with them like her Sky Bear.  She wanted to take these kids her own stuffed animals so, in her words, they wouldn't be scared.

When we learned only new stuffed animals could be donated due to allergies/ germs, she decided to use her own money she had saved to go to Chuck E Cheese to buy some to donate. And just like that, Alex's Fluffy Buddies was born.

We expanded the places we donate to over the last couple years and are including Ronald McDonald House, local hospitals, and police and fire departments. We've also mailed bears to out-of-state kids we learn about that need a special friend.

Alex is now 7 years old but the project is no where near complete! The demand is reaching a level that her own savings ( and mommy and daddy's) can not substantiate, so we decided to set up a go fund me account for those wanting to donate to her project.

100% of the donations will go to the purchase of new fluffy friends and the costs associated with it such as shipping (when needed),  packaging materials etc.  All donations will be fully disclosed and regularly updated on her Facebook page, Alex's Fluffy Buddies. Be sure to like and follow our page to stay updated! We will also post lots of pics along the way showing the buddies being purchased and delivered.

If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign so we can grow her audience of those able to help to keep her dream going.  The need for these fluffy friends never ends and she plans to continue her project indefinitely!

Alex says thank you for reading about her project!

Alex wanted to send an update now that the cast is off! She became cast free last week and has spent the time since then getting all caught up on her deliveries!
She also sold some of her toys she no longer plays with and bought school supplies for Stuff The Bus which gives them to kids in need.

She is 11 bears away from her first big goal she set of 1500 bears donated!! This never could have been reached without the amazing contributions from her donors so we thank you all so much for your kindness! It's incredible to think how far she has come with her project she started almost 4 years ago! It was a struggle in the first few years with her raising small amounts of money on her own! The average cost of a bear is $10 so the small amounts she was funding in the early years only amounted to about 350 bears donated. How incredible is it that she now is nearing 1500 with the support and generosity of complete strangers?!
Your donations have touched so many lives! We wish you could all be with us when the bears are donated! It's such an emotional experience that compels her to continue to strive for her ultimate goal of 100,000 new friends donated!
Be sure to pick up a copy of Women's World magazine on newsstands September 19th through the 25th as it will feature Alex's story! Also, watch for an announcement coming of a book she is in that is being published as we speak!

It's time for an update!

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day...leg cast version

Alex's doctor appointment is in the morning. If he doesn't see a break, the cast stays off! If he sees it's still broken.. back in a cast for 3 more weeks.

Fingers crossed for a completely healed ankle tomorrow!

She's been hitting sales and buying up all kinds of new friends! With the cast, she's been delivering to more local places and mailing out bears to limit the amount of walking she has to do.

However, she has BIG plans for after the cast is off and she can walk longer distances again!
She is so excited to fully get back into deliveries!

We're so overwhelmed with the support her dream has seen over the last few months. It's truly inspiring to see so many people want to help with her cause. We started out so small and mostly self supported. We never dreamed it would reach a point of being able to continue for years to come! We can't thank our supporters enough♥️
With the donations so far, her goal of donating 100,000 bears is definitely closer but she's still a long way off from meeting that dream. This is something she realizes will take time to achieve and she's working hard to find ways to make that happen!

Her latest fundraising idea was using her own money to purchasing a HUGE 53" bear she named, Love. She's holding a drawing next Saturday to give the bear to anyone ( local supporters only as he can't be mailed) that donates $5 to Alex's Fluffy Buddies! If you're local to Cleveland area and want to enter, be sure to comment "bear drawing" when you donate. She's thinking of new fundraisers for our of area supporters!
She's hoping to have a good response from this fundraiser to help push her funding closer to her long term goal! She's also having a yard sale in a few weeks to raise money as well for Fluffy Buddies. She's always thinking of ways to promote or raises money for her project!

We are also in the process of obtaining 501 c3 status and do meet all the requirements but it is a process! Like and follow Alex's Facebook page to stay up to date on the latest fluffy happenings

Hi everyone! We had hoped to have an update next week of new deliveries but have had to postpone this due to an unfortunate accident. Alex sat down on a concrete bench while we were out and it flipped over, hitting her ankle. Thankfully, it is not broken and it's just a miracle it wasn't! She was diagnosed with a crush injury and will be off it for a while so it can heal up. Of course, Sky Bear was there to comfort and see her through. It definitely reminded us how very important a good soft buddy is in situations like this. Thank you all for your continued support♥️
She'll be back with some delivery updates as soon as she's feeling up to it again.

Message from mom (Melisa):
We can't thank all of our donors enough for the amazing support you've all shown Alex's Fluffy Buddies. Alex has learned many valuable lessons throughout this experience and has made many new friends in the process.

With this dramatic new growth in her project funding, we are going to take a moment to evaluate the best way to ensure the donations are used in a way that will help as many children as possible as well as expand our reach into areas we only dreamed would be possible. We will continue our usual donations to hospitals, police and fire depts, Ronald McDonald House etc while we plan how to take this project to the next level.

We thank you all for helping Alex see her dream of every kid facing medical and crisis situations, to have a fluffy friend to see them through. We have a long way to go to see her goal of 100,000 bears given away, but we'll get there, she's very determined!

This experience has taught us all, that there are truly amazing people in this world that are compassionate and caring.

Be sure to follow Alex on Facebook to stay up to date on all the new and exciting things ahead for Alex and her Fluffy Buddies!
