Apóyame en Olivet Nazarene U.

¿Quién soy?
Mi nombre es Alexander Freytes Campos, y soy estudiante graduado de la escuela superior Fernando Suria Chaves del municipio de Barceloneta, PR.  Voy a comenzar mis estudios universitarios, este agosto 2015 en Olivet Nazarene University en Bourbonnais, IL, donde buscaré obtener un bachillerato en Biología, con concentración en Pre-médica y desenvolverme como músico de esta institución.

El comienzo de esta gran aventura
La ciencias médicas han sido una gran meta para mi desde hace varios años, ya que es mi gran anhelo poder ayudar a otros.  Tuve la oportunidad de servir como voluntario durante los cuatro meses de mis vacaciones en Manatí Medical Center, donde adquirí experiencia cuidando pacientes, atendiendo familiares y apoyando a las enfermeras.   También tuve la oportunidad de  formar parte de un programa en el que fui estudiante de los médicos internos y residentes del hospital. Gracias a esto, afirmé mi deseo de convertirme en doctor. Mi meta final es ser Neurocirujano Pediátrico.


Ademas de esto, la música también tiene una parte importante en mi desarrollo como estudiante. Llevo cerca de diez años acompañado del saxofón. Con este he podido tocar en Puerto Rico y en los Estados Unidos como la parada Puertorriqueña en Osceola, Florida.  Soy estudiante de la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barceloneta y fui estudiante de la Escuela Preparatoria del Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico. En el Conservatorio participé del conjunto de vientos y tomé cursos pre-universitarios para seguir desarrollándome como músico.


Mi deseo de servir a otros
Para poder pagar mi matrícula y materiales universitarios, recibí una beca académica y otra por música de parte de la Universidad en Illinois. Ambas suman en su totalidad a 18,500 dólares. Sin embargo, aún me falta dinero para saldar mis gastos académicos y lamentablemente en mi hogar tampoco podemos cubrir estos.

Como mencioné, voy a concentrarme en Pre-Medicina, lo que quiere decir que esto es tan solo un paso en el comienzo de esta gran aventura. Por los próximos cuatro años, voy a poner todo mi empeño para sobresalir y dar lo mejor de mi, siempre.  Espero también continuar haciendo trabajo voluntario en el hospital mas cercano a la universidad, para  así seguir cultivando cada día mi deseo de servir a otros y poner mi pasión en practica.

Who am I?
My name is Alexander Freytes Campos, and I recently graduated from Fernando Suria Chaves High School in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. This August 2015 I will begin my undergraduate studies at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL, where I will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biology, with a concentration in Pre-Med and become a musician.

The beginning of a great adventure
Being involved in the field of the medical sciences has always been my biggest dream since I aspire to help others. For four months during my Summer vacation, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a volunteer at the Manatí Medical Center. There, I acquired the experience of taking care of patients, tending to families and being of aid to nurses. I also had the chance to become part of a program that allowed me to shadow interns and residents from the hospital. Thanks to this unforgettable experience I asserted my desire to become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon.


In addition to the medical sciences, music is also an important part of my development as a student. I have been playing the saxophone for nearly ten years, and I have been fortunate to be able to perform in Puerto Rico and in the United States for events such as the Puerto Rican Parade at Osceola, Florida. I’m a student at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barceloneta (an educational institution dedicated to the teaching of the Fine Arts), and I was a student at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music Preparatory School. There, I participated in the Conservatory ensemble and took pre-college courses to continue to develop as a musician.


My desire to help others
To help pay for my college tuition, I received an academic and music scholarship from the University. Both awards add up for a total of 18,500 dollars. However, I still need support to pay off my education costs. Unfortunately, my family and I cannot cover the remaining tuition fees.

As I mentioned, this is only a step towards the beginning of my Pre-Med adventure, and for the next four years I will put all my effort to excel in it. I also hope to continue to do volunteer work at the closest hospital at the university in order to grow each day my desire to help others and continue to put my passion in practice.
