We are chess players trying to help Albert Hailey, age 69, who is completely deaf, profoundly visually impaired, totally paralyzed in his lower body, partially paralyzed in his upper body, and confined to a wheelchair. This is the combined result of infantile paralysis from Polio, and Encephalitis. Until his early 30’s, he got around on crutches, but since age 35 he has been confined to a wheelchair. Albert also suffers from the inability to speak.
As an adult, Albert got involved in chess. His high rating was in 1994 when he reached a rating of 1732. Because of his declining health, he has played almost no rated games in the past 20 years, but he remains a fierce competitor as anyone in the Chess Meetup groups in Las Vegas area can confirm.
Albert is in need of low vision aids for distance and near vision, which neither Medicare nor Medicaid provide.
Also, he is unable to operate his present clothes washing machine because the controls are not handicap accessible.
There are charities involved in Albert's life, such as The Helen Keller Foundation , Perkins School for the Blind , and Nevada Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired . All of which have been very helpful, but they are unable to provide the following things:

D) 2.1x Eschenbach Max TV Glasses from Amazon .......$185.
E) Cocoon low vision polarized sunglasses from Yesnick Vision Center, Las Vegas NV.......$55.
F) There are a wide range of products that made life for those with low vision easier. Some of those products are: Low Vision Telescopes, many types of magnifiers, low vision lamps, low vison Bold Writer pens, yellow bold lined wide space writing pads, etc... This expense can be $2500 and up.
G) Prosthodontist -- if funds for the other items are reached, Albert could use Dental work and a partial plate. A ballpark estimate for this work would be several thousand dollars.
