Olá, este é o Carlos, que está há 2 anos a lutar contra um cancro no intestino. Neste momento, o cancro já atingiu o estágio 4, pelo que os tratamentos convencionais já não dão resultados positivos.
Já passou por 54 sessões de quimioterapia, 37 sessões de radioterapia, tratamentos estes que não ajudaram e apenas trouxeram efeitos secundários graves, como úlceras no intestino que lhe impossibilitam de realizar actividades do dia a dia normalmente, como andar, comer, e levar uma vida normal.
Os únicos tratamentos que lhe dão algum alívio às dores e qualidade de vida não são comparticipados pelo estado português, e são extremamente caros. A câmara hiperbárica é dos poucos tratamentos que neste momento estão-lhe a ajudar a cicatrizar a úlcera intestinal.
As sessões têm um custo unitário de 125€, pelo que já realizou 20 sessões, num total de 2400€. São necessárias 50 sessões ou mais, é o que dizem os médicos, para se começar a ver resultados.
Estamos a explorar outros tratamentos alternativos, porém são todos privados e o estado não ajuda em nada. O Carlos já não pode trabalhar, e já gastamos quase todas as nossas economias de uma vida inteira, mas a batalha parece estar longe do fim.
Necessitamos de alguma ajuda, por mínima que seja, para continuar em frente.

Hello, this is Carlos. Carlos has been fighting stage 4 intestinal cancer for 2 years now, and at the moment all regular treatments are ineffective.
He has been through 54 chemotherapy sessions and 37 radiotherapy sessions, which have not helped much and have only brought negative side effects, like intestinal ulcers, that makes regular daily activities hard - like walking, eating and such.
The only treatments that provide him some relief from the pain and help him live life normally are not supported by the national healthcare system, and unfortunately, are very expensive.
One of those alternative treatments is the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, and is currently helping in the healing of the intestinal ulcer. The doctors have recommended 50+ sessions, being 50 the minimum to start seeing any results. Each session has a cost of 125€, and Carlos has been through 20 of them, totaling 2400€.
We are currently exploring other possible treatments, but all of them are private owned and, as such, not included in the public healthcare system.
Carlos can no longer work, and we have spent all of our life's savings, including retirement money, in doctors and treatments, but the battle seems to be far from ending.
We need any kind of help we can get, as small as it may be, to help keep us moving forward.
