Amory Jane's Sex Ed Teaching Tour
Hi, I'm Amory Jane! I am a sex educator, story teller, and amateur filmmaker. My biggest passion is consent-based, pleasure-positive sex education, and this campaign will help me raise funds for my U.S. teaching tour.
For as long as I can remember, I've been a person who is very interested in sex and relationships. I don't mean that I was just interested in having sex and relationships; I mean that I was deeply curious to learn all about human sexual behaviors, love, lust, hormones, kinks, culture, dating, anatomy, polyamory, health, birth control, gender, sex work, pornography, toys - you name it! If I thought it would deepen my understanding of sex and intimacy, I'd read it, watch it, talk about it, or try it.
After finishing graduate school for Marriage & Family Therapy, I realized I had a different path than my fellow therapists. I knew I wanted to be in a helping/guiding profession, but I also wanted to be able to speak openly, live authentically, make people laugh, entertain, inspire, and to impart wisdom and knowledge. Fortunately, in 2011, a sex toy boutique named She Bop was looking to hire their first employee. 
I have now been at She Bop for five years, and I continue to teach and learn more about sex every day. It has been an amazing experience to help people work through shame, have better sex and healthier relationships, and to feel empowered.
In addition to now being the Assistant Manager and Education Coordinator at She Bop, I am also the in-house sex educator and go-to presenter/"sexpert" at Oregon's colleges and universities. It is a dream job for me...but lately I've been dreaming bigger.
That is where you come in!
I have organized a three week teaching tour this Spring and will be presenting workshops in multiple cities in the South and Midwest (an area of the country where I grew up and where I hope to bring more intersectional feminist, kink-affirming, poly-friendly, and LGBT-inclusive sex education).
I will also be attending CatalystCon Midwest to network and to unite with my colleagues -
"CatalystCon is a conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality. The conference mission is to reach out and stimulate attendees to create important conversations within communities and change discourse and acceptance of sexuality within society. These conversations are intended to stimulate the activist within us all and spark transformation and growth in one of the humanity’s most important aspects; sexuality."
Of course, traveling and conferences aren't free. Even though I will be getting paid for most of my workshops (some will be pro bono to reach a wider audience and keep sex ed accessible), I will not be getting paid my regular wages for three weeks. This would have almost been doable alone, since I had been setting aside a little bit of each paycheck to make this dream a reality, but then my husband broke his arm during an ice storm...and, wow, medical bills are expensive! The thousands of dollars kind of expensive.

So, I now need your help! How could you help, you ask?
Here are the costs for my trip:
*Flights = $578
*Lodging while in Florida (3 nights) = $232
*One-way car rental for 3 weeks = $1324
*Gas estimates from fueleconomy.gov = $216-263
*Lodging in Louisiana (multiple nights) = $334
*Lodging in Memphis (1 night) = $70
*Lodging in St. Louis (2 nights) = $165
*Lodging in Indiana = free (thanks, family!)
*Lodging 1 night in Chicago before CCon = $114
*Catalyst Con registration = $175
*Catalyst Con Hotel = $375
*Food/drink/supplies/etc. = $650
Grand Total = $4280
I am hoping to raise at least $2000-3000 and cover the rest with what I earn from teaching workshops.
Any amount you coud donate would be very helpful and deeply appreciated. I can't do this trip without a little bit of help, and asking for help is not an easy thing to do! However, I strongly believe in the work I do, and I know sex education is incredibly important and can change the world.
