Aidez Zachary!

Voici Zachary, un beau garçon d’environ 4 ans qui a été secouru par une dame au grand cœur alors qu’il errait à Ste-Anne-Des-Plaines. Il était affreusement sale et maigre. Il souffrait de malnutrition, d’une infection urinaire et d’une rhino. On a également découvert un polype qui s’était infecté dans son oreille et qui cause à Zachary un syndrome vestibulaire, raison pour laquelle il se tient la tête penchée et manque un peu d’équilibre. La dame qui a recueilli Zachary, qui a déjà d’autres animaux à sa charge, s’est démenée pendant des mois pour essayer de le sauver mais malgré les traitements antibiotiques et de multiples consultations, les infections à l’oreille et aux voies respiratoires de Zachary ne disparaissent pas.
La dame a donc remué ciel et terre pour trouver de l’aide pour ce chat qui n’était même pas le sien. Nous avons décidé de faire notre part.
Pouvez-vous nous aider à aider Zachary ?
Zachary est arrivé au refuge vendredi soir dernier. Le vétérinaire du RSA a effectué une culture des sécrétions de l’oreille de Zachary afin d’identifier avec certitude la bactérie qui cause l’infection et ainsi pouvoir lui administrer l’antibiotique adéquat car son oreille demeure purulente et continue de dégager une odeur très forte en dépit des traitements administrés. Une fois l’infection sous contrôle, Zachary devra subir une chirurgie pour enlever le polype afin de prévenir d’autres infections et problèmes de santé. Le vétérinaire profitera de l’anesthésie pour effectuer d’autres examens (dont des radiographies) afin de s’assurer que ce polype ne cache pas un problème encore plus sérieux.
Nous espérons qu’ensuite, Zachary pourra vivre une vie de chat normal avec un minimum de séquelles. Il gardera probablement toujours la tête un peu croche, mais c’est un chat très affectueux qui s’intéresse beaucoup aux humains. Zachary a sans doute déjà eu une maison et il a tout le potentiel pour rendre un humain très heureux.

Meet Zachary, a beautiful boy, of about 4 years old who was rescued by a lady with a big heart in Ste-Anne Des Plaines. He was horribly dirty and thin. He was suffering from malnutrition, a urinary tract infection, and rhino. We also discovered an infected polyp in his ear which caused Zachary to have vestibular syndrome, the reason that his head is tilted and he has somewhat poor balance. The lady who found Zachary, already has animals of her own and has gone out of her way for months to try and save him. However, despite antibiotic treatments and multiple consultations, the ear and respiratory infections remain.
This lady has moved heaven and earth to try and help a cat that was not even her own. We have decided to do our part.
Can you help us help Zachary?
Zachary arrived at the refuge last Friday night. The RSA veterinarian took a culture from Zachary’s ear to try and ascertain the type of bacteria causing the infection so that the appropriate antibiotic can be administered. This is because the ear has thus far remained infected and strong-smelling despite previous treatments. Once the infection is under control, Zachary will need to undergo surgery to remove the polyp in order to prevent other infections and health problems. The veterinarian will take advantage of the anesthetic to do some additional examinations (including x-rays) to ensure that the polyp is not hiding a more serious issue.
We hope that after this, Zachary can live the life of a normal cat with aminimum of after-effects. He will probably always have his head a bit tilted, but he is a very affectionate cat who is interested in people. Zachary undoubtedly already had a home and has such potential to
make a human very happy.
