Aid for Addi: help the Cook family conquer cancer!

Just after Addi's third birthday, the Cook family learned that their oldest daughter had developed Wilms' tumors on both of her kidneys. The most common childhood kidney cancer, Wilms' tumors are commonly treated with aggressive methods to prevent their spread or recurrence. Addi is in the 5% of patients who have tumors on both kidneys, so her treatment plan includes at least one round of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery to remove the tumors.
Addi is a bright, fun-loving child who has places to go, people to meet, and an equally adorable 10 month old little sister to guide. Her parents, Andrea and Ben, are both teachers who have dedicated their lives to prepare both elementary and high school students to achieve their dreams. Now it’s time for them to focus on caring for their own oldest child so she, too, can do the same. The time spent in doctors offices and away from their classrooms will undoubtedly be hard for Andrea and Ben, but with our help, the tremendous expenses of cancer care can be much less of a burden to them during this indescribably difficult time.
As fellow educators, we at De Soto High School are setting up this fundraiser to help the Cook Family with costs of medical care, travel, and any other needs that may arise.
