Hey there friends! Thanks for clicking on my Go-Fund-Me!
I was elected, as the title suggests, as a member of the Kansas delegation to the Democratic National Convention, specifically as the 1st Congressional District delegate on behalf of the Presidential campaign of Secretary Clinton!
What does this mean?
It means I am one of the “pledged delegates” that goes to represent Kansas Democratic voters at the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from July 25th-28th. It is a week long event where the national party comes together and nominates our candidate for the Presidency, as well as sets the platform of the party and begins the process of galvanizing Democrats nationwide. It is the start of our campaign to re-elect a Democrat in 2016 to the White House!
It also means it is an incredibly expensive trip that includes airfare, lodging, meal and travel expenses. If I were to stay at the hotel that has rooms reserved for the Kansas delegation it would be, and I kid you not, $650.00 a night. I have cut down on my expenses, dramatically, by instead electing to book an Air B&B that is about a 10-20 minute drive to the convention center and which is a fraction of the hotel cost. It does, however, mean that I need to provide transportation for myself to and from the center, likely via taxi or Uber, as well as the general day to day expenses. In short, it's still a big expense.
I am setting myself a fundraising goal of $800. So whether you are a Bernie supporter or a Hillary supporter I'm happy to take $2, $10, or $20, or even just well wishes!
For all those who decide to donate to my fundraiser I will pledge to you this – I will create an update each day I am at the convention detailing what I'm doing, describing which functions I attended, I will showcase one new person at the convention that I met that day, and I will load up those updates with photos! If you wish to receive these updates via e-mail, as oppose to my Facebook account, please let me know and I'll add you to an e-mail list.
Whether it is Secretary Clinton or Senator Sanders as our nominee, we will have a strong and unified party that will carry us back into the White House, back to the Senate, and back into the United States House of Representatives!
