Six years ago if you would have told me that I would be trying to get to Australia for a sport, I would have said I would be gone by then. That was more believable. Shortly after that time, after years of trying different ways to change my life I signed up for an Olympic distance triathlon, Trinona in Winona, MN. Continuing to do whatever was asked of me alone wasn't working but adding triathlon to my life helped change my course. I am eternally grateful for those that have been a part of this journey and I believe that we need each other. When my feeling of belonging, community, and love are lost, so am I.
Recently I have had a few friends encourage me to do some fundraising for the event next September. This is out of my comfort zone for many reasons. I cannot do this alone and am beyond humbled doing this. Three different women have pushed me to do this with the same message but different meanings, saying "you have to go, we don't get to do this". I am doing this because I need to keep fighting, to have goals, to show that there is another way to live, and to remember those that have lost the fight with addiction. We are all one and the same.

The funds I am trying to raise are for about half of the cost of the season and the trip. In particular for the ticket and for this race I need a new-to-me (used) road bike as the event is draft legal and a tri bike cannot be used.
This trip is happening. This campaign has been encouraged for me to pursue by some good people in my life to off-set the costs as a single mother with a child with some pretty big needs at this time, which are limiting my ability to be out in the workforce.
