This is a call out to the good person in all of us! An opportunity to make a real difference this holiday season.
I work with a property management company that manages two homes on one lot in the City of Lawndale, California. The homes were being fumigated and were draped head to toe in ‘termite tents’. This keeps the poison gas in to kill termites and anything else that crawls. The landlord had arranged for the tenants to stay in a hotel for this three day process.
Yesterday, December 19th at 3am (the day the tents were scheduled to come off) someone went under the tents, broke into the homes and fleeced them of all their valuables.
For the last 26 years one extended family has lived in these two homes without incident. They are good, hard working people and now they are looking at a pretty grim Christmas.
The thieves stole 3 Xboxes, a laptop, TVs, ALL of the Christmas presents for the 3 kids that live there . . . they even took the spare keys to their vehicles! The Grandpa to these three kids lives at the property too: 8 months ago his wife died and these bandits made off with her jewelry as well.
Some of the stolen items are clearly irreplaceable, but some items can be replaced. I’ve never done one of these campaigns before, but if we could raise $5,000 for this family it would change their lives forever.
When I met them yesterday, and saw how violated they felt, it made me sick to my stomach. We hugged and cried a bit and I told them I’d try to help. So I’m asking you to please help if you can. Let’s see if we can help get their 2016 off to a good start. Thank you for reading this far . . . everything is appreciated.
