Soccer Without Borders and the Afghanistan Women's National Football Team have now joined forces to grow an even bigger fundraising campaign that is tax-deductible for its contributors. This new campaign facilitates the receipt of funds and direct use by the team's staff for booking travel via Soccer Without Border's resources and benefits both the team and supports by providing transparency on all contributions. We are very excited to launch this campaign and partnership and look forward to spreading the great news.

Our Story:

The Afghanistan Women's Football Committee with collaboration of the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), is inviting talented Afghan players, who are actively playing around the world, to tryout and become a part of the Women's National Football Team. The AFF recently made an announcement through social media, requesting that players contact us and send us their playing resumes and highlight footage. Upon review of those materials, the Committee will call in the players to participate in a mini-camp/tournament, to take place in Europe this summer.

Following that mini-camp, an AFF delegation will select the best players to participate in a follow-on camp and tournament in United States in September. The mini-camp will involve multiple matches against women's clubs in the U.S. at the ECNL, NPL and WPSL levels. The AFF delegation will choose the best players from that tournament to join the player pool for the National Team.  Meanwhile, AFF will also be reviewing and selecting players from the Afghanistan Women’s League to also join this pool.

Upon pool selection, the team will travel to Hong Kong for a ten-day training camp with Kelly Lindsey at the Major League Soccer Academy. Immediately following the conclusion of that camp, the team will compete in the South Asian Games, hosted by the Maldives, in December/January.

Our official partners for 2016 include hummel International (our kit provider) and West Coast Goalkeeping to provide gloves for our Goalkeepers. The amount of resources both of these companies have invested in the Afghanistan Women's Football Team have been above and beyond and we are incredibly thankful for their support.

What we will still need financial assistance with is support lodging, meals, and transportation en route to the multiple camps and while in the United States in September. All funds donated will go directly to cover these expenses for the 20-25 players selected to participate in the U.S. and Hong Kong training camps.

If you'd like to learn more about the program, please check out the link below which provides an overview of our recent kit launch by hummel International and tells the story of our former Captain, Khalida Popal.

Thank you for your support and helping to empower women through sports!

Thank you everyone for your continued support. We've asked our players to craft updates for you! This update comes from one of our midfielders, Farkhunda Muhtaj (#10):

"2018 was the start of something special for the Afghanistan Women’s National Football Team. We kick started the year with a training camp held in Amman, Jordan from January 31st to February 6th. The camp consisted of two training sessions per day, two tactical meetings per day, as well as two FIFA International Friendlies against the Jordan FA. After not being able to train as a team for all of 2017, it truly meant a lot hearing we had a training camp at the beginning of 2018. Jordan was an opportunity for us to compete internationally and to continue to perform and train at the highest level. It was also an opportunity to further develop this program, set higher standards, and to achieve the goals we had set as a team in India (2016 SAFF). Despite the result, we were able to compete against a team that is in the top 50 FIFA rankings and leave with our heads held high. The improvement in the last two years has been outstanding; however, we are still a work in progress, and it is opportunities like this that allow us to develop further. Our hope is that we can have 3 training camps a year in order to achieve our objectives of jumping up in the FIFA rankings and participating in International tournaments. For this reason, the upcoming camp scheduled in Japan is crucial for our growth. The camp in Japan will allow us to continue to build this program, and further develop us players. The purpose of this camp will be to build team chemistry, strengthen our bond, and stay focused on our mission. These camps have been instrumental in my growth and development as a person and player. Through this program we hope that we continue to inspire people and empower women all over the world. I am truly thankful for everyone’s endless support in pursuit of making this a sustainable program. "

Help us in our Journey! Help us make Japan a reality for this women. As a team, we will use football to encourage peace, inspire hope, and elevate lives! Together, we are unbreakable!

It's World Human Rights Day today!! Please continue to share our story and help us raise the funds we need to continue inspiring women in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees everywhere! We are the beacon of light and hope for all Afghan women and we refuse to stop until we've created enough momentum for change that encourages all women in Afghanistan to play sports, go to school, be whatever they dream to be! We are the voice and the inspiration! Help us continue our historic journey!

In order to finalize our participation in Istria we are on the clock to raise $25K funds before 15 January. We have to get to $65K! It's only 30 days away!! Thank you for continuing your support! We love you guys!

Thank you to everyone who donated during Khalida's recent trip to Houston! It was a whirlwind few days and we are hoping that we can continue to build on this trip for additional support. As you can see from our campaign, after tallying up the donations made this week, we are still nearly $26,000 short of being able to make the 2017 Istria Cup happen (getting us to $65K) and nearly $48,000 short of our total goal for funding all of our operations for 2017. Istria Cup is our main goal at this point. It is make or break for our program and our participation, the first of its kind for the Afghanistan Football Federation (men's or women's teams), is monumental. As we've mentioned before, it would be the first time a Central Asian Senior WNT would compete in a major European Invitational Tournament and is crucial to opening up further doors for our program, our players, and the women watching us with interest to play in Afghanistan.

Help us make Istria happen! Please share with your friends. Let's get our story going viral!!

Good Morning Friends and Supporters,

Yesterday we were able to confirm our participation in the 2017 Istria Cup. Our attendance will mark the first time that a Central Asia Football Association Senior Women's National Team will compete in a major European invitational tournament. This is quite literally history in the making and we want YOU to be a part of it.

We have managed, with significant support from AFF, to fund our participation in SAFF in December 2016 but now we must turn our focus to funding our events in 2017. Our main objective is to make Istria happen. We have obtained funding to cover our admission fee to the tournament but we still need to cover all international airfare and local transportation while there. We have a new goal to raise $35,000 by January 15th. Can you help us achieve this goal?

We are still in search of a major title sponsorship for our team so please share with any companies looking to provide a tax deductible sponsorship before year end. And if you're looking to make some tax deductible donations during the holiday season, please think of us.

We are empowering women refugees and our players in Afghanistan to achieve their dreams--to make HISTORY representing their country! Please share and give what you can.

Thank you for all of the support we've received thus far! We literally could not do any of this without you!
