WHY SUPPORT THEATRE
The drama arts are a heritage from our ancestors. Since the very beginning of the human being History theatre has been a masterful tool to educate, entertain, worship and dialogue among equals and the world.
Particularly I strongly believe that theatre itself can contribute deeply to a better world, mirroring our best and our darkest faces, provoking our thoughts and inducing us to look into ourselves, what can be both terrific and devastating...
And in times like we live nowadays look into ourselves is more than necessary. It is urgent.
WHY SUPPORT ME
My name is Daniela Miguel dos Santos and I am committed to becoming a reference in theatre-making from tomorrow, contributing to develop and abet the highest standards of artistic performances. For this reason, during the last four years, I studied theatre at a Brazilian institution called Teatro Escola Macunaima, from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I also enrolled in a playwriting workshop and my first play (The Cave) was in theatres in São Paulo between April and May of this year. But this is definitely not enough and I know that I am not prepared. Yet. That is why I applied to the Master Degree in Advanced Theatre Practice at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, one of the most traditional and competitive universities in drama, associated to the University of London. And guess what: I was accepted :]
Here is the plan: Study, study, and study as if there is no tomorrow. I can guarantee you that if you help me I will work really hard. More than that: I do want to create possibilities to as many people who are committed to going beyond in theatre-making as I can, including those who have similar origins to my own (poor people, from minority groups - such as black and women). In the long-term, I aim to establish a school capable of developing its students into all skills related to theatre-making, that means voice, body, playwriting, directing, scenography and producing.
REGARDING THE MONEY
The Royal Central bursaries do not cover 100% of the course costs and still are focused on European students. I also cannot get a loan since I am Brazilian. I have to manage to pay the price with no discount ( £18,357). The challenge is that one pound sterling values 4.5 times one real (Brazilian currency) and even if I spent all my savings from the last fours years of work on it, I could not afford 10% percent of the course though (sad violin soundtrack playing on the background).
In other words I really, really need YOUR HELP.

Master fees (1 year of course - full time): £18,357
Initial costs: £439 (TIER 4 VISA) + £1000 rent (3 months) + 500 (food + transport + unpredictable cost) - Subtotal
£ 1939
Total: £ 20296
Total (US dolars): US$ 13000
Total (euros): EUR 7000
Total (Reais): R$ 22000
The campaign is split in three so that in each campaign the goal is set in a different currency. This campaing is in euros.
