42% of the citizens of the State of Louisiana are employed, but still barely making it. What does this mean? This means while some families are working two or three jobs to make ends meet, other families are struggling with homelessness, inability to purchase a home, and a victim to the skills gap that plagues our city, our region, and most importantly, our unemployed.
The Northwest Louisiana CDC seeks to provide opportunities of advancement for every person in Shreveport and our surrounding region. We believe that the "least of these" respond favorably to quality, consistent programming that specifically targets the unique needs of our community. Our "Advance Our Community with NWLACDC" Fundraising campaign will focus on raising awareness around our current programs that have already made community-wide impact.
Programs like "Girls Who Code", the "First Lego League, and the "Annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway", teach our youth skills, while also providing tools that promise a future of success, where these new skills can be used.
Programs like our "Recidivism Reduction Program", "Road to Home Ownership", "Code Red" and "Transitional Housing for Boys" speaks to systemic obstacles that are widespread, and pervasively unresponded to. We seek to increase visibility and impact for individuals impacted by incarceration, financial disparity, trauma and youth homelessness.
All of our programs add incredible value to local and regional economic development by providing skills training, school supply subsidies, homelessness intervention and finance training.
