My name is Sarah Donohue. I am 45 years old and a strong independant women having raced Offshore powerboats for almost 2 decades, I have worked in TV, Major movies, media and extreme sport all my life. I never thought I would be the victim of cyber abuse.
My story was recently featured in the Mail Online and after much research on cyber bullying, there seems only to be help for children and young teenagers. But nothing to help older teens and adults understand what is happening to them, yet teens and adults are attacked every day online. This affects their businesses and their home life, their health and their entire life. It drives people of all ages to suicide.
Many adults and older teens daren't ask for help and have no where to turn. They feel they can't talk to anyone because they are an adult and it doesn't and shouldn't happen to us/them, and they want to remain strong for the 'weak' or for 'children' who may need their help.
Even I was too ashamded to share it with my mum and dad for over 1 year. So where do adults get help? Do we sit here in silence and let our businesses get ruined, our repuations ripped apart over spocial media and our health suffer? What about us, the ones who think we are strong and could never be victims of cyber abuse?
Anyone can be cyber bullied and anyone can be a bully. Cyber abuse is not just for children. It's very real and it's everywhere. I searched high and low for a website that could help me understand what was happening. I searched for what to do and who to turn to and how to cope. There was nothing out there.
I was devastated. It took 2 years for the story to come to light. I have lost 2 years of my life. Some people lose their lives as they aren't strong enough to cope. I can't begin to tell you how ill this made me and the changes it had on me physically and mentally. My whole world fell apart because of these people, yet I didnt deserve it. Cyber abuse is shocking and I want to build a website as a 'go to' for those who need help, advice and for those who can't talk to anyone else but need to talk to someone.
A site that offers advice, a site that can guide you to the right way. Is it criminal or civil? Some things the police can't help with. I know, I begged for help on the 16th Januray 2014 and although the policewoman said she would telephone my abuser and tell her and her 'hit squad' to stop, it was civil and I needed a lawyer. Phoning the police actually made it worse and the abuse went into over-drive with these abusers writing over social media "she called the police, can you believe she called the police, wasting police time... disgusting!"
Cyber abuse. When does it stop? As an individual you don't think it will ever stop. You wake up knowing your day will bring misery. You cry yourself to sleep at night and still it continues. Many people can't afford a lawyer. Mine was on No win No fee and they were amazing.
Our basic human right is to be free from fear. Help me build this website and guide those older teens and adults to a safe place. To advise them, through my experience of living in hell and coming through it. Thankyou to the Mail Online and all my friends who stood by me and I am so sorry I didn't share this with my mum. She knew something was wrong because everytime she saw me my eyes were bloodshocked. I told her I had an allergy to my new make up and in the summer I blamed the hay fever I didn't even suffer. But my mum wasn't born yesterday. She was devastated when I told her.
Please dont let what happened to me happen to you or your friends or family. Expose these people and above all protect yourself. The internet can be a wonderful place. It can also cause death and destruction.
I own an all-female fitness show called Miss Galaxy Universe. We have girls of all ages shapes and sizes on our stage. I help girls achieve their goals and gain confidnece. My confidence was ripped away. Never lose your confidence, never let them win and always ask for help.
Please help me fund this site and all that I want to do with it. I didn't know this website existed, but I am glad it does and I hope that soon I can get all of this up and running alongside my show, as another support network and open the eyes of the world to cyber abuse in adults.
There are many things on the website that I want to put in place and I am currently seeking advice on how to move forward with that, from 'live' advice online to 'live' by telephone. Powerful virtual posters which can be printed and a seminar once a year with guest speakers.

The woman responsible settled prior to High Court, and 3 weeks before my wedding. I had the most beautiful wedding in Marbella free from stress with my friends. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding gift...since this has come out in the press. Three girls have come forward to say the reason they either left my show (Miss Galaxy Universe) or didn't enter in the first place was because of my abuser and her daughter. I have this in writing.
