Adam Nixson Scholarship Fund
Adam was an apprentice sheet metal worker in the Kansas City area and was showing great promise with the career he had chosen. He had a passion for live music, fishing, and hunting. Adam and his chocolate lab, Jack, were especially fond of duck hunting.
Just a few days after Christmas, tragedy struck when Adam and Jack went duck hunting - Adam did not return. He was an experienced hunter and was well versed in the safety precautions of the sport. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Adam was taken from us too soon.
At 29 years of age, Adam's life was just getting started. He was the father of two beautiful boys; three-year old James, and one-year old Miles. While the boys may be too young to remember their father, we want to show James and Miles just how much their father was, and will always be, loved and cherished. We believe establishing a scholarship fund will do just that, and serve as a reminder that Lauren and the boys are not left alone in this world.
Please help us ensure these two beautiful boys can grow up to be as strong and dependable as their father. All donations received will fund future educational expenses for James and Miles. We are forever blessed for what Adam brought into our lives and are deeply thankful for your consideration in helping his sons, James & Miles.
Go Fund Me felt I should give everyone more information about who I am and what we’re doing. I suppose they’re right with as much online fraud that occurs today. Frankly, I don’t know everyone donating, so if more info on me will make folks more comfortable and help our cause then I’m in.
My name is Joel Davis, and I live in Liberty MO. Adam Nixson is my son-in-law. His wife Lauren is my daughter, their two boys, my grandchildren. We plan to divide the donations between the two boys and open a Missouri 529 or some other type of college fund. I will be soon talking to my CPA to discuss our options. Every little bit helps. Thank you again for your love, prayers and support. The response has been overwhelming.
When the memorial was finished and we all meandered toward the doors, I could see the pain, love and sadness on everyone's faces. But, we weren't done remembering Adam. We then proceeded to the hall for the Celebration of Life. What an amazing place to meet and share our memories and love of Adam. Big Iron Town with it's Rustic atmosphere fit Adam's personality perfectly. We ate a most appetizing meal and made toasts to Adam's life and legacy. And after the meal, Joel, Craig and Michael (The Hesitation Blues Band) played all of Adam's favorite songs, while we visited with each other and shared or memories and thoughts of Adam and his amazing life. It was such a wonderful celebration of Adam's incredible life and love.
I would like to thank Lauren, and Jim and Tami Nixson for putting together this amazing memorial for Adam. I truly believe he looked down upon this gathering for him, with all his friends and family who loved him so much, and smiled. I believe he will forever rest in peace knowing we will all be looking after Lauren and her boys. It was a farewell to a beautiful person both inside and out. We love you Adam, and will miss you always.
Take a moment to remember the life of Adam J. Nixson through the following video tribute.
He was a very special young man. The kind of son-in-law every father hopes his daughter will marry and start a family with. A loving husband and father to two beautiful boys. Watching Adam roll around on the floor wrestling with those boys and listing to all the laughter is something I’ll never forget. I’ll miss you Adam Nixson. I promise to you that as long as I’m able, I’ll tell those boys the stories I heard of your adventures. I'll tell them about your accomplishments. I’ll tell them how much you loved them and their mom. I'll tell them how very special you were.

Joel, thanks for the updated information. Know there are a lot of people out there praying for your entire family. My son is Dean Baldwin, and I know Dean and Adam had some good times hunting together. As one parent to another, this is a parent's worst nightmare. I truly hope something good comes out of this. Dean and Sydney love your grandsons, and I think what you are doing is a wonderful tribute to their father. I know it has been an eye opener not only for my son as far as safety goes, but also his other hunting partners that have talked about how it could easily have been them. I think they will all be more careful from now on and get the proper safety gear so this doesn't happen again. My heart goes out to all of you.
Curious to know what you do with donated $ since none of it supports his widow or children.
Our thoughts and prayers are will you and your family Joel.
