Dear friends, family, and kind strangers, It is with completely shattered hearts and a profound sense of urgency that we are reaching out to you today. Our world has been turned upside down once again, and we are facing a reality that is as terrifying as it is heartbreaking. Our beloved Carol Olsen is fighting for her life against an aggressive, advanced illness. Carol’s battle began back in 2023 when she received her first breast cancer diagnosis. We watched her face that terrifying storm with unimaginable grace and strength. But that year already held an unspeakable tragedy for our family—just four months after her initial cancer diagnosis, Carol’s son passed away. The grief of losing a child is a weight no mother should ever have to carry, yet Carol kept moving forward for the rest of her family. After grueling treatments, we wept tears of pure relief when she finally went into remission. We thought she had survived the worst. We thought our beautiful mom, sister, and grandmother was finally safe. But cancer is incredibly cruel. In September of 2025, our worst nightmare came true: the cancer returned, and it returned with a vengeance. This time, the diagnosis is far more severe. The breast cancer has progressed to Stage IV and has metastasized, traveling through her bloodstream and spreading into her lungs. She has now developed multiple secondary tumors throughout her lung tissue. This has changed the entire nature of her fight. Carol isn't just dealing with the exhausting side effects of aggressive oncology treatments; she is actively fighting for her breath every single day. The tumors make breathing painful and incredibly difficult, leaving her profoundly fatigued and physically weak. Watching the absolute anchor of our family face a metastatic diagnosis after everything she has already lost is a pain we cannot begin to put into words. Carol is the fierce mother who has sacrificed everything for her kids, and the irreplaceable sister always ready with a helping hand. Through all of this, it is Carol’s closest daughter, Arriana, who is hurting the most emotionally. At just 15 years old, Arriana is carrying a weight that no teenager should ever have to bear. In 2014, when she was just a toddler, Arriana’s father tragically passed away in an accident. Carol has spent the last twelve years doing everything in her power to be both mother and father to her, shielding her from the harshness of the world. Now, to watch her mom—her only surviving parent, her best friend, and her entire safe space—fight these tumors for her very breath is an unimaginable agony. Arriana cannot lose her mom, too. Carol is fighting with every single ounce of her soul to stay here for her youngest daughter. Carol also fights for her precious grandchildren: Josiah, Michelle, Nayeli, and Azaila. Her entire world revolves around them, and her eyes light up the brightest whenever they are in the room. It is utterly devastating to see the grandmother who loved to play, laugh, and hold them close now looking so fragile, carrying a mountain of pain and uncertainty. Carol has so much left to live for. She wants nothing more than to be here to guide Arriana into adulthood, to watch Josiah, Michelle, Nayeli, and Azaila grow up, and to continue showering her family with the unconditional love she is known for. But right now, the physical and emotional toll has evolved into an absolute emergency. Because Carol cannot work while undergoing intensive medical treatments for her metastatic cancer, she has already lost her apartment. Right now, Carol and Arriana have no home of their own; they are jumping from family member to family member’s house, living out of bags and just barely scraping by. Trying to battle advanced lung tumors while experiencing the instability of displacement is a nightmare no one should ever endure. We have set an urgent fundraising goal of $50,000 to lift Carol and Arriana out of this crisis. Every single dollar raised will go directly toward: Securing Housing: Getting Carol and Arriana back into a stable, permanent apartment of their own so she has a safe, sterile, and quiet place to rest and heal between treatments. Medical Bills & Specialized Care: Covering steep insurance deductibles, oncology co-pays, life-extending therapies, and medications specifically targeting her lung tumors. Basic Living Expenses & Debt Relief: Keeping food on the table, covering transportation to medical appointments, and paying basic utilities once they are rehoused. Carol has spent her entire life building a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion, even through her darkest personal grief. Now, it is our turn to surround her and Arriana with that same love when they need it most. How you can wrap your arms around Carol and Arriana right now: Donate: No amount is too small. Every single dollar brings them one step closer to a stable home and the medical care Carol desperately needs. Share: Please share this link with your friends, family, and communities. Word of mouth is powerful, and we need all the help we can get. Pray & Send Strength: Please keep Carol, Arriana, and the grandchildren in your deepest thoughts and prayers as they face this steep climb. Thank you from the very bottom of our broken hearts for standing by Carol, and by our family, during the darkest chapter of our lives. With endless love and gratitude, The Olsen Family
