Keep Our Africa Centre Open For more than 60 years, the Africa Centre has been a home for African culture, heritage and community in London. It has welcomed generations of young people, artists, entrepreneurs, community organisations and local residents—a trusted place to connect, learn, create and celebrate. Today, the Centre faces an immediate financial challenge and has been forced to close temporarily. We are seeking urgent support to help reopen our doors, sustain essential operations and build a stronger, more resilient future. Your contribution will not create something new—it will protect a vital institution that has served thousands of people for decades. Your support will help us: • Reopen our doors to the community • Maintain a safe and inclusive cultural space • Continue delivering education, wellbeing and cultural programmes • Support young people, artists, entrepreneurs and local communities • Retain the experienced team that makes this work possible • Safeguard more than six decades of African heritage and community impact. Every donation makes a difference. Major gifts can help secure the Centre's future, while contributions of any size strengthen our ability to continue serving our community. Together, we can ensure the Africa Centre remains a vibrant home for African culture, creativity and community for generations to come. #OurAfricaCentre Further reading material: Brief history of The Africa Centre by New African Latest press release: 5th Aug 2026 Frequently Asked Questions The Africa Centre charity's Impact Report 2024 Contact: Dr. Sheila Obim on sheila [at] africaknows [dot] com
