Help Me Replace Stolen Camera Gear

Donation protected
On May 18th, 2016 my car was stolen and along with it, all of my camera gear that was hidden in the car. The same night, I also had an accident and sustained fairly serious injuries, having to go to the ER.

In the accident, my $500 glasses were broken beyond repair, I chipped my front tooth (I don't have dental insurance), and my whole body was cut up and battered and bruised. Suffering from moderate-severe rheumatoid arthritis also didn't help the situation. To say it was a bad night would be a gross understatement!

However, I am slowly but surely trying hard to pick up the pieces of this gigantic mess, but it's really difficult. Breaking my heart the most from this night is the loss of my camera equipment. In one night the very expensive tools that had taken me years to acquire were gone.

Photography has been a passion of mine since I first picked up a manual Pentax K1000 in 9th grade for my first ever photography class. I was hooked. A  few years ago I finally began trying to turn my hobby into a real career (something I'm still working on very hard). Exciting opportunities have recently begun to come my way, which is wonderful. But now I don't have a camera. I'm still in shock about it, really. The unfairness of the situation, of some heartless and selfish person violating me and my life, is still difficult to bear three months later.

I really hate asking anybody for money, but I'm willing to give this a try for the first time because I don't know what else to do. I've also done a lot of free, volunteer photography work for various non-profit organizations over the last several years and I'm hoping some of that good karma might come back to me, if possible?

Also: non-profit, NGO, health/patient advocacy, and humanitarian journalism work is what I'm most passionate about and trying to move forward with regarding my photography. Like I said, exciting things are on the horizon, yet now I have to start all over again getting the tools I need to make my dreams a reality.

If you feel at all moved to help me in this journey to getting my life back on track, while suffering from a painful chronic illness, I would appreciate it more than you could know.

This may sound cheesy, but here's a quote I unexpectedly came across written on a little card one day while substitute teaching last year (my day job):

"No one wins alone, so I'll remember those who help."

I think about this quote a lot since the day I saw it. To everyone who has helped me up until today and in the future, I will most definitely remember you.

Thank you for reading this!

Sincerely and gratefully,
Angela
