Accessible Van for Constantine

Donation protected
Constantine just turned 11 a couple of weeks ago.  Every single time we go out somewhere he needs to be picked  up from his 350 lb wheelchair and put into the car seat, which he REALLY doesn't like.  Mostly  because it hurts him, but also a little bit because he is getting older and it isn't really all that cool.  We had an accessible van for a while that we bought used, but it became more and more dangerous to drive (because of problems with the undercarraige) until it was too unsafe to drive and we had to get something else.  Unfortunately, we are still paying for that van that died on us.  These vans are EXPENSIVE, even the older ones. Since we weren't able to get another wheelchair van, we got something that had enough room so that we could drive his chair into it (on a portable ramp) and still have room in the van for our four kids.  We got a used Transit and it was a huge relief, because at least it is SAFE (which is really important when you have kids!), but, holy cow, is it a pain in the butt.  We have done a lot of fundraising in the past since Constantine was diagnosed.  Mostly we raised money to go toward research for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, but we have also  raised  money for a van in the past.  I wish this wasn't part of our journey, but I am embracing it for Constantine and because what we are doing now isn't sustainable for him physically or mentally (and me physically, my back!).  We are also applying to many grants with the hopes that anything we get will add up and help us make a dent in this huge cost.  I feel very strongly that the state of NH needs to step up with their assistance for kids like Constantine.  I recently had a meeting with two representatives and am very motivated to make some changes that could really help families in the future to offset these huge costs.  I know this will take a long time, so in the meantime, here we are, following the recommendations given to us and exhausting all our options for the time being.  We hope you can help us give Constantine the ride he deserves by donating, or even just by sharing!  Thank you!
