Abloom: Spreading Beauty w/Flowers

$5,000 of $5,000 goal

Abloom delivers free flowers to local institutions throughout our Hudson Valley community. We aim to enliven spaces, spark feelings of compassion and dignity, and promote a greater connection to nature. Living with beauty inspires us all.

Through our flower recovery program, we donate recovered event flowers to senior homes and shelters. Abloom also deliver flower arrangements from local farms to residential treatment centers, such as the  Astor Home for Children.

"Happiness held is the seed. Happiness shared is the flower."

Abloom is a collaboration between a flower fanatic and flower farmer that began in 2016 with the simple idea that flowers can help support communities. Marla Walker and Marina Michahelles met at Shoving Leopard Farm, where our blooms are grown.

The money raised here has supported our outreach effort to deliver more free flowers to more people in need. Support so far includes: purchasing reusable vases and wholesale local flowers, gas reimbursement for deliveries throughout the HV, promotional postcards and mailings, a flower stand for our pop-up flower markets, and other supplies needed to spread the beauty of flowers one bouquet at a time! THANK YOU for your support!

Our 2018 season is underway with our first big delivery of flowers to the Astor Home in Rhinebeck! We harvested from the farm yesterday and created all the arrangements on-site today. Vases are overflowing with fresh blooms and brightening up spaces all over the facility. Thanks to all our volunteers and supporters for helping us do this magical work. Love, Marla + Marina

2017 was an incredible season for Abloom. We are grateful to everyone who purchased bouquets from our pop-ups, signed up for flower shares at Shoving Leopard Farm and contributed time and money. All the funds raised went to blooms for residents of Astor, two senior homes in Rhinebeck, a food pantry in Poughkeepsie and a women's shelter in Kingston.

We are expanding our flower recovery program for 2018 by working with farmer florists and organizations throughout our region.

When florists book an event, they can offer their client the option to give the post-event blooms to an institution nearby for a small fee.

Our dream is for every flower filled event in the Hudson Valley (one day everywhere!) to end with blooms donated to a worthy place.

Hi all!
We are in our 2nd season of Abloom for summer 2017 and we want to thank everyone who donated to our campaign last year. We were able to make weekly deliveries to Astor, donate recovered event flowers to a senior center, and donate to both a women's shelter in Kingston and a food pantry in Poughkeepsie all thanks to your generosity.

This summer we have volunteer helpers and have started selling bouquets from Marina's farm at pop-up locations, such as Paper Trail in Rhinebeck to help raise funds for this project. If you would like to get involved in any way please contact us with your interest!
