Brain Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
I'm Karlee and I've spent the last 2 years raising money for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. Last year I walked 25kms solo and raised almost $4000 and this year I have organised a public walk which has raised $8000 so far. Currently I am organising the Sunshine Coast 5km Walk 4 Brain Cancer for Sunday the 6th of November. This is a big thing for me as I'm not very fit but I'm doing this as my cousin was diagnosed with Brain Cancer at 34 years old. His kids were 2, 5 & 7 and he was given 18 months to live. With one week to go, for the Cure Brain Cancer Fundraiser I have spent the last 10 months organising, we have had the news that the chemotherapy has not worked and the tumour has grown, with surgery no longer an option.

Aaron has been very lucky to make his 40th birthday this year as the survival rate of more than 5 years is 15%. People don't realise brain cancer kills more people under 40 than any other cancer and more children than any other disease. It comes from out of nowhere and gets people in their prime.

Aaron has had 3 craniotomies, radiation and, most recently, chemo and this has had an emotional and financial strain on his family. So I decided I need to do what I can for my cousin. I am raising money to financially support further treatment options and also raising awareness by walking from Caloundra to Noosa starting on Friday the 11th of November, which is approximately 65kms.  I don’t expect something for nothing, hence the reason I am doing such a long walk. Any donations made to this Go Fund Me account will go directly to Aaron and family for treatment and hopefully a family holiday together, if enough is raised in time.

*EDIT*- With an overwhelming response of people wanting to help we have set up a fundrasing page which can be viewed here. Fundraising includes book stalls, auctions markets and the sale of nutrimetics products. Thanks to all involved.

Here is the time line of Aarons battle with brain cancer:
April 18, 2010 (his daughters 5th birthday), midnight seizures leading to 3day induced coma followed by diagnosis of brain tumour.
October 2010 - first craniotomy followed by radiation therapy. Pathology says Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. Prognosis 18months. A second opinion later changes it to Anaplastic Astrocytoma Grade 3.
June 24, 2015 - 2nd craniotomy due to tumour recurrence.
26th April 2016 - 3rd craniotomy for further recurrence followed by chemotherapy.
7th June 2016 - emergency surgery to put in a shunt to drain fluid causing pressure on the brain.
September 2016 - told to stop the chemotherapy as it's not working and the new temporal lobe tumour is growing. Told that no more treatment is now an option. Exploring other options, which are risky and expensive.

Please share this page as every dollar counts and no donation is too small. All support is greatly appreciated and hopefully we can extend Aarons quality time with his beautiful wife Samira and 3 kids Kaelan, Aurian and Willow.

Earlier this year. This is my Uncle Wayne, cousin Aaron, his wife Samira and their 3 kids participating in the Gold Coast Marathon to raise funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. Aaron had his last dose of chemotherapy the night before but is a determined man. He struggled but got through with the help of his family. They are fighters, but due to struggling financially are not able to access further treatment options. I would like finances to not be a further hurdle this family have had enough struggles.
