Greetings All, We (AAP) have some concerns with what lies ahead as it relates to crimes among our you people of color, more specifically, shootings and homicide. In fact, it has lready started, Shockoe Bottom being the most recent to my knowledge. What bothers us more is that most of us, are simply BYSTANDERS. We are losing too many youths, too soon. Each time there is another shooting, or another killing, we just talk about it, how tragic it is, attend our vigils, and do nothing until the next one. Let's get a mindset to do better, starting now, to get more involved. I am a strong believer that there will not be a DRASTIC CHANGE, until we can BRING THE FATHERS BACK HOME, Then provide them with Faith Based teachings, character development, and skill sets. That is when his / her self esteem is restored, and he / she take the rightful place in the home, and the children become submissive. Until that time, if you do not have a plan of action of your own, to help deter violence in our communities, then jump in and support Departments (RPD), and programs that are doing something to make a change. EXAMPLE: The Adult Alternative Program is beginning their masonry class at 9:00AM tomorrow morning, and ending at 12:00noon. We choose to open this class to the community with our target being our young people who graduated, but are not going to college. We want them to watch how other your persons (our students) learn, and enjoy doing it. So, you can start here. Just bring a youth, or two to this public display of vovational skills. All they have to do is watch. We can tour the school and share the benefits to having vocational, and technical skills, and have equal opportunity, even without college. Just as importantly, it will take them off of the streets, and into a positive mindset. We are right on the bus line, invest just $2.00 into a child, we will make sure he / she gets back home. Youth below 18, should be with a parent / guardian. Let's stop being just bystanders and gossiping about who got killed, when, where. Also, we can use volunteers, especially with our young ladies. lets be PROREACTIVE, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. GO BLESS, ALL OF US!

WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! Got an e-mail while recovering from a life threatning experience, on yesterday, and I must share with you in order to show the Goodness of God, and his decision to have me work for him. Thank you God! The e-mail is from a TV Producer out of New York City. Dr. Owen Cardwell, and I met with this company perhaps a year or so ago. They were following a request from, GET THIS??? "Oprah Winfree" to launch a TV series that addresses the struggle of those of us who after being released from incarceration, had to endure. The Email has Oprah's name, followed by "RELEASED". Released is the name of the series. It has already aired in North Carolina. They wish to revisit us (Adult Alternative Program), document our services, and our struggles, and want us (AAP) to gather a group of "recently released" reentry citizens who are willing to share their story on the OWN network, and allow OWN to follow from the moment they leave prison and face the outside world. I know there are many questions, and I have many myself, but before anything moves forward, we will schedule a meeting, and if there are any documents, have them reviewed by AAP pro-bono Attorney, or an attorney of your choosing. This series is good for our community in that it goes directly to "Mass Incarceration" as well. I provided with some documents that I must read and go over. In the meantime? If you, or someone you know, is interested in what I am sharing so far, please call 804.716.6139 and leave your contact information. Remember, one must have just gotten released, or scheduled to be released. I believe we are looking at between August and september. When I learn more, I will share more. "THIS", is a good thing. I will be having the second surgical procedure Monday morning, please continue to PRAY for ME.

Good Morning All, first I must Thank God for allowing me to be among the fifty percent of of persons experiencing a Brain Anuruisim, who actually surive, recover, and able to share a testimony. Please excuse any mispelled words, or jumbling of words in that I am still recovering. Being unable to attend Church services this morning with family, I wanted to Give a Shout out to the Doctors and Staff at VCU Critical Care Unit. The degree of professionalism, the degree of care for myself, and family, and asking me daily; Who is the president, what year is it, what month is it, where are you, what happened to you, I became irritated with these questions, until realizing that for some of these, I could not answer (smile). Much better now, Thank God! I also wish to thank everyone who visited, those who could not visit, but sent well wishes, and those who understand the financial strain that comes with such a situation as this, and provided financial support. Thanks to K&S Lawn care who is presently maintining the lawn at school to avoid our looking to be abandoned. However, what moved me the most, emotionally, are the constant, and persistent calls, and e-mails from our students who are determined to begin resuming classes when I am ready. Thanks to Charles Sauls, who kept the doors open, unbeknowest to me, and maintained class acitvities. God is preparing a NEW THING at The Adult Alternative Program, and all are welcome. It has taken me more than twenty minutes to write this post because I have to proof read (lol). Now, all students are asked to come to class in the morning for a couple of hours, to address your concerns, revisit our schedule, and to make preparations. We received a message from a local Church, who saw our facebook video pouring concrete, and want us to come and consider concrete work at the Church. This is good, "BUT" if and when we go, we wish to include re-entry persons, and youth, who are members of that Church. This, we shall discuss in the morning as well. On Wednesday, we have a lady volunteer coming to school (1st Wed of ea. month) to begin teaching "financial literacy" And assistance with "Credit Scores". She will be providing lunch. This Class will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. A little tired about now, but Thanks again.
