AACORN Community's New Home

AACORN Farm, Inc. is a charitable organization committed to enriching and transforming the lives of adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through active engagement in caring for animals, gardening, cooking, crafts and sewing, and learning how to be part of a community.  Located just south of Kalamazoo in Southwest Michigan, AACORN has outgrown its current space since starting our program in 2013. We have been renting space at a local farm but are now in the process of purchasing a 40 acre farm that will enable us to expand our program and serve more people. In order to safely house our adorable goats, pig, and chickens we have an immediate need for fencing to make repairs at the new location. Funds will also be used to purchase a four-wheeler with a cart and snowplow attachment to enable us to haul hay and other materials, and plow snow in the winter.


We depend on grants and individual donors to keep this vital program going. AACORN truly makes a difference for adults who experience anxiety and confusion with crowded, noisy urban spaces. We witness participants growing in confidence and skills as they work and interact in the quiet rural setting, and we look forward to being able to help more people realize their potential at our own farm, with forty acres instead of two. The barn at our new property is pictured below.
