Last night while riding her bike home from work, our dear friend RADDEST LADY WE KNOW Courtney Cavanagh was clipped by a car. The driver of the car did not stop to help her and now Courtney is facing heavy medical bills and potential time off from work to heal from the injuries sustained during the hit-and-run.

UPDATE: Courtney has torn ligaments and her scapula is broken. She's waiting to get a consultation from an orthopedic surgeon, but is resting at home and appreciates all the love!

Courtney is amazing. Courtney is the biggest badass. Honestly, words don't do her justice. Her smile, her laughter, her incredible passion for life and her spirit touch everyone in such a profound, unique and beautiful way. Courtney is one of a kind. If you've ever met her, talked to her, watched her play the banjo, had a shot with her at her bar, or have gotten to laugh with her, please help us. She'll never ask for help. And that's okay -- because we're asking for her. Because we love her.

This woman is so wonderful. And it pains us to see her in so much physical strain and emotional stress. Please, let's get her back on her feet. Anything, and we mean ANYTHING would help. Let's show her some love.

All the love -- because this girl. THIS FUCKING GIRL. deserves all of it.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hey everyone! This is just a quick update to let you know that Courtney is doing really well. She spoke with an orthopedic surgeon that felt very confident about how her broken shoulder should heal and she'll only require a small surgery to "tack down" the ligaments that tore during the crash.

Your support and love and most of all your big mouths in getting the word out are beyond appreciated.

ALSO - please join us at The White Horse on Saturday, July 26th for a pick-up truck pool party supporting ATX Safer Streets. We'll have lots of fun in the sun and will be providing guests with a TON of safe rides at the end of the event. Proceeds from "adult snow cones" are going right to Miss Courtney.

Holy cow! We hit the goal in less than 24 hours. Every single one of you has been beyond amazing and so supportive of Courtney. Thank you so much.

I'm working with several musicians and The White Horse to put together a benefit show for her here in the coming weeks, and also to draw attention to the lack of bike lane where she was hit. You can read about how terrible that stretch of road is in this article.

Courtney got to the ER last night (big wonderful 'thank you' to St. David's Medical Center who was so incredibly nice and thorough and quick in getting her in to see the Doctor) and found that she has torn ligaments and her scapula is broken. She'll have to meet with an orthopedic surgeon to see if surgery is necessary, but she's hoping that it can be avoided. In either case, she'll have several weeks to months of recovery and her left arm is basically immobile for the time being.

And for those that have asked, she was riding Southbound on Pleasant Valley, just past the bridge. And no, the driver did not stop, but the driver behind him/her did stop to see if she was okay. She's remarkably lucky.

Thank you all for the support and kind words. You rock!
