Makia Mason is a very bright and outgoing  18 year old young lady. She is very respectful, dedicated and  always willing to help someone else.. Makia is a straight A and B student who loves to attend school. unfortunately due to her medical condition she is not able to attend school.  This is her senior year and instead of enjoying it amongst her peers she is forced to stay at home. She was not able to apply for college due to not knowing how long treatment would last.  She wants to be a nurse working within the oncology department helping children like the nurses are helping her. Right now her dreams are on hold. She cries regularly because she just wants to be normal.  And enjoy her senior year.  As a mother when I first laid eyes on Makia it helped me discover a love within my heart that I never knew exist. When she is at St. Christopher's hospital she helps encourage other children who are battling cancer just the same.. The small children love seeing her come for treatment because she sets such a big example and shows then encourage and strength..no matter how she is feeling she helps put a smile on everyone's face when she walks into the room. From the hospital staff, parents and patients everyone loves seeing her come for they know she will brighten up their day with a smile and some kind words.. She will even dance for the other children.. Makia is fighting a rare disease called Myofirbromatosis. On January 13, 2012 Makia beganed a long journey of chemotherapy treatments. In June of 2013 we moved to North Carolina to help find a better treatment for Makias rare condition. Makia almost died on March 24, 2015 do to a bad reaction to treatment. Makia now has to undergo chemotherapy for the fifth time but more severe and because of her age it is a strong possibility that the chemotherapy will destroy her chances of ever becoming a mother. She may not never experience be ablea to experience the love that only a mother can have for there child.  There is a fertilty process that will allow Makia to have this experience but unfortunately we are currently receiving medical assistance from the state of Pa which will not cover the cost in having Makia's eggs frozen. As a mother there is nothing I can do but ask for help so that my daughter may one day enjoy the experience of motherhood herself. If you can make a donation of any amount it will be heartfelt and genuinely appreciated.
