Help Quinn Transition

Donation protected
Hi all! I'm raising money to take my gender transition private and hopefully get on hormone therapy by the end of the year!

A little backstory: I came out to friends and some immediate family members as transgender when I was 15, but knew some time before that. Due to not coming out completely to the rest of my family until I was 18, I decided to wait until then to get referred to a gender identity clinic as I wanted to make sure everybody knew and that I wasn't going behind anyones backs. This hasn't been completely positive; I've been discriminated, shunned and hurt by the reactions of some people. Others have been completely supportive of my transition and I have made some of the closest friends due to it. Being a part of the LGBT+ community has made me feel so loved even when I've been the most alone in my life.

Due to unforeseen circumstances regarding underfunded NHS gender identity clinics, I'm now staring down the barrel of a four year waiting list before expecting any kind of hormone treatment. I got referred to the Laurels in Exeter in December 2017, and was informed I would only be waiting 18 months. However, recent surges in applicants and a lack of funding/staff has majorly slowed the waiting lists down. It's now 29 months to a first appointment and another 30 months after that before I'm expected to get any kind of testosterone.

So that's why I'm taking it private. With private transgender healthcare I'm potentially looking at only 5 months before getting on testosterone! I've been doing deep research into what healthcare company I could go to and the best quality options. After speaking to many other trans people who have also used private care, I feel that the LTC is the best option for me. Although it is a tad more expensive than some other private companies, I feel that I shouldn't opt for the cheapest medical care and I truly believe I will get the best result from going here.

The money being raised is for the initial appointment (anywhere between £300-£500), to get a diagnosis and a hormone referral. It is then followed up with a medical appointment (£300-£400) to check blood pressures, etc, to see that I would be okay with going on hormones. Any potential follow-up appointments can cost up to £100.

I work part time on top of my full-time education at university, so will be putting aside my own savings for this. However, any help with my transition would be greatly appreciated and would help me get onto the waiting list quicker. Although I have no set date for this GoFundMe to finish, I would love to be on testosterone by the end of the year, which means raising the funds by July/August to get myself referred in time.

My partner Ashton is also transgender, and is facing the same situation as me. If I go over-target or raise more money than I needed to match, it will all go to him. He deserves the world and I want to try and give it to him.

If you decide to donate, thank you so much. This has been a long and arduous process for me and anything at all will help me get closer to my goal. I truly believe this will make me a happier person.
