I Usually  Am Not Someone Willing To Show Vulnerability And Ask For Anything Of Others, But I Do Want To Thank You All So Much. Thank You! Thank You! For The Love, Prayers, Support, And Messages Flowing Through For Robert!

My Name Is Rita Kwakye And I Am A 20 Year Old Minnesotan. On Thursday Morning, The Love Of My Life And Bestfriend, Robert Cook, Was Biking Home From Class When He Was Hit By An SUV Driver. If He Had Not Been Wearing His Helmet, He Would Not Have Made It Through. Robert Was Rushed To The Intensive Care Unit At Hennepin County Medical Center In Minneapolis, And Has Been Here Ever Since. He Has An Injury To The C4 And C5 Spinal Vertebrae, And A Fractured C3, Which Was Corrected And Stabilized By Surgery; We're Still Waiting To See The Range Of His Mobility.

He Has Been Responsive And Communicates With His Eyes And Moving His Head And Shoulders. Robert Also Has Some Broken Bones And Fractures, A Laceration On His Liver, And Many Other Things That We Know God Has Healed. We Are Prayerful, Hopeful, And Thankful For All Of Your Support. Please Donate Whatever You Can, All The Funds Will Be Given To His Family, And I Have Been With Them Here At The Hospital. Friends And Family Have Visited And Are Encouraged To Keep Visiting As There Are No Cut Off Hours (See Update).

Robert Morris Cook The 4th Is A Wonderful And Kind Man, Who Turned 21 On June 27th. He Is A Rising Senior At The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Studying Kinesiology To Become A Physical Therapist. He Has An Internship At Abbott Hospital And Aspires To Live A Life Fulfilled In His Community, Even Being Vice President And Grants And Fundraising Chair Of The Black Student Union At His School. He Is A Member And President Of The Pi Eta Chapter Of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated And A Member Of Huntley House. He Also Is Heavily Involved In Diversity And Inclusion Efforts, Being A Leader For The Multicultural Center For Academic Excellence Kick Off And This Year A Lead. He Loves To Volunteer And Make People Laugh, Always Being A Light And Bringing Joy To Others. He Is Loved By His Mother, Father, All His Siblings, Grandparents, Aunts And Uncles, Cousins, Extended Family And Friends.

Robert Attended Brooklyn Center High School And Was The President Of The National Honor Society. He Was Also An Award Winning Long Distance Runner For The Track Team, Captain Of The Soccer Team And Homecoming King His Senior Year.

Thank You So Much For Everything And All That You Can Give, It Is Appreciated And Will Go Towards Robert's Support And Medical Expenses. The GoFundMe Is Set Up To Be Direct Deposited Into An Account His Mother Created For Him.

Pictures Of His Current Condition Will Not Be Posted Just Yet, In Respect For His Family And How Graphic The Images Are. You Can Follow This Campaign For Updates On This Journey.

Thank You So Much To Everyone Who Has Shared, Donated And Given Love Support, And Prayers To Robert. He Has Had An Amazing Journey To Recovery With The Blessing Of The Lord! When He First Came In, His Pelvis Was Really Bad And We Were Told That He Would Need Surgery On It. Last Week, The Doctors Saw That His Pelvis Was Miraculously Healing Itself! Glory Be To God

Two Fridays Ago, Robert Also Had Surgery Installing His Trach To Continue Breathing With His Ventilator. He Is Now Breathing Better With The Trach, Using A Speaking Valve, And Breathed By Himself Yesterday For More Than 25 Minutes! For Next Steps, Robert Was Approved To Go A Long Term Acute Care Hospital (Bethesda) And That Is Where We Plan To Have His First Month Or So Of Physical Therapy And Weaning Him Off The Ventilator. He Has Also Been Placed In A Chair Daily For Anywhere From 1-3 Hours. Sometimes He Doesn't Like It, It Can Be Uncomfortable And Is New For Him, But He Knows Sitting Up Is Good For His Lungs And Body So He Is A Trooper Through It. Robert Also Is Feeling More Sensations With His Body, Sometimes His Feet And Hands Will Move And He Will Have Some Feeling Of It! We Know God Is Working A Miracle On Him And Will Continue Doing So.

In All Of This Robert Has Been An Amazing Fighter And So Strong! Our Positivity And Good Energy Bounce Off Each Other Even In The Roughest Days, We Try To Keep Up Our Spiritual Faith And Are Proud Of Any Growth We Can Get! I Am So Thankful To God For This Amazing Man Who Has Been Given The Strength To Move Mountains, And Is On A Fast Track Way To Recovery! Last Night He Planned An Elaborate Surprise Party For Me At HCMC, With His Family Bringing In Cake And Balloons.. And Him Singing Me Happy Birthday! I Am Incredibly Grateful For Robert And His Family Taking Me In As Their Own And Becoming Another One Of My Families (I Have So Many Now Lol).

Please Continue To Keep Robert In Your Prayers And Support Him. Also Consider Donating To His GoFundMe And Sharing It, We're Almost At Our Goal And Robert Can't Believe All The Incredible Support He's Received Worldwide.

Hi Everyone! We'd Like To Thank You Once Again For Your Contributions And Ask That You Please Continue To Keep Robert In Your Thoughts And Prayers!

A Minor Update Is That We Are Waiting For Robert's Neck Incision To Heal, In Order For Him To Get His Trach And Remove The Breathing Tubes From His Mouth. The Breathing Tubes Are Very Uncomfortable For Robert And Because Of This, He Is Being Sedated For Most Of The Day. Visitors Can Come To The SICU Waiting Room At Hennepin County Medical Center To See His Family And Sign Cards And Robert's Guestbook If They'd Like; He Still Cannot Yet Have Visitors Until He's Healed.

As An Update To The GoFundMe Funds, Because I Have The GoFundMe Under My Account, I Initially Had To Withdraw The Money And Give It To His Family. They Then Opened And Deposited The Money Into An Account Just For Robert's Hospital Expenses And Whatever He May Need After He Leaves The Hospital, And Goes To A Rehabilitational Facility. There Is Now A Direct Deposit For That Account, From GoFundMe. I Say This So That Donors Have Transparency As What The Money Will Be Used For, And If There's Any Left After Bills Are Paid (Which I Doubt), The Funds Will Be Used At Robert's Discretion, As The Money Is For Him And His Support.

Thank You So Much And Please Message Me Or Other Members Of "Team Robert 4 Life" If You Have Any Questions And Concerns!

Hello Everyone! Thank You So Much For Keeping Robert In Your Thoughts And Prayers, And Supporting And Sharing His Page. Everything From Checkins And Calls, To Visits, Are Appreciated So Much, And We Are Praying For His Speedy Recovery

The Following Are Some Updates:

Robert Is Doing Well And Continuing To Use His Eyes To Communicate, As Well As Using His Shoulders And Nodding. He Was Able To Spell Words By Opening His Eyes As We Went Through The Alphabet (Ex. Opening His Eyes At A, Then N, And So Forth Until The Word Was Complete). We Are Still Waiting For His MRI Results But See Improvements In His Mobility.

Also, Due To The Influx Of Visits Robert Has Been Getting From Everyone, And His Potential To Get Overwhelmed And Infected By Others, His Visits Are Currently Limited To Just Immediate Family. We Will Post An Update When Everyone Else And Other Friends Can Visit Him, But Our Main Concern Is Ensuring He Is Healthy And Protected From Germs, To Get Better. Thank You So Much For Your Understanding In This Matter, And Please Continue To Keep Robert In Your Thoughts And Prayers, We Appreciate It So Much! - Team Robert 4 Life
