A Tiny Warrior's Battle

$6,065 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 74 people in 6 months
Our tiny warrior was born with HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome) a congenital heart defect that means the left side of his heart will not fully develop. Because of this he will under go 3 different surgeries by the time he is 3 years old. This far in our journey we have been blessed with so much love and compassion we will never be able to thank all of you but it has made a difference in our life and the beginning of Kade's.

The challange we face is the fact that he will have his first surgery tomorrow at 7 am at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. He will be in the hospital anywhere from two weeks to two months. Joe (dad), Kimberli (mom) and McKenna (big sister) will be away from home until he is released. While in Charlotte his parents are unable to work and will need necessities we all have come to take for granite while being at home.

Once Kade is released and allowed to come home he will need extensive care  as well as trips back and fourth to Charlotte for his exams and follow up. His next surgery will be in 6 months. It is for this reason we asking for your help. We appreciate every monetary  gift you are able to give for our little warrior. God will bless for your generosity as much as you will be blessing baby Kade and his family. Thank you for your prayers, your love and all you have done for us this far.

So yesterday we changed Kade’s trach to a
cuff less trach. Normally when on a ventilator they use a cuffed trach to ensure no leaks, but we think the cuffed trach may have been making him gag and causing the vomiting. So far since the trach change, there hasn’t been anymore vomiting. He has spit up a few times, but nothing major. Thankfully! If he does start vomiting again we may have to look into changing his feeds. As of now, both chest tubes are out, but one will have to be put back in again if we go back to his original formula in case there is any drainage from the thoracic duct. Anyway, he seems to be doing better this morning. We are so thankful for any progress, even if it’s small. We were told a few days ago that we will most likely not be home for Christmas. Please continue to pray hard for Kade. Please also pray that we will be able to figure out a way to celebrate Christmas with McKenna in the hospital, as she is not normally allowed in Kade’s room in the ICU. I want nothing more then for Kade to get better, and to be able to spend Christmas with both of my babies.

Update on our little man.. Due to the fact that Kades vocal chords are still paralyzed, we have no other option then for him to have a tracheostomy. Although this terrfies us, it is not healthy for him to remain on the ventilator under constant sedation. Along with the tracheostomy, he will be having a gastrostomy tube (g-tube) put in. This will ensure that he gets all the nutrition that he needs because it would be difficult for him to eat with the trach without chance of aspirating. The doctors seem pretty confident that at least one of Kades vocal chords, if not both, will heal and he will be able to have the trach and g-tube removed in the future. He will be having surgery this morning to around 10am to have both of these placed. Please pray for him this morning, for the Lord to guide the surgeons hands and to keep Kade pain free and comfortable.
He sure is a little fighter!!
