A School That's So Much More...
About Us
The Lion of Judah Discipleship Hall (LJDH) is a small Christian school located just south of Austin, Texas. LJDH is a safe place where all students are welcomed and have an opportunity to develop character and achieve academic success. Our purpose is to be a support system so that students and families can gain a firm foundation for life. Our motto is to learn life through love [mind • body • soul].
This is our first year in operation! We officially opened on September 5, 2018. We are currently enrolling grades 1 through 4. However, by 2019, our goal is to have a larger facility and to serve grades K-12. LJDH's school year is September 5, 2018 - May 22, 2019.
What Sets Us Apart
We’re all about going back to the basics, which means helping our students to gain a strong foundation academically and through character development. Therefore, in addition to ensuring that they obtain a firm educational knowledge base, we inspire our students to learn compassion, wholeness, and overall life skills.
Additionally, we’re about building relationships with families! We want families to know that we support them and are here to serve. Christ inspired us to make our mission one of teaching our students and families how to live life well - through the love of Christ (mind, body, and soul). We fulfill this mission in the following ways:
-Incorporating character development (e.g., compassion, integrity, responsibility, diligence, and self-control)
-Whole person/whole family classes that benefit the mind, body, and soul
-Social service provisions such as clothes and food for anyone in need
Education Program
LJDH is more than a school. Our education program includes volunteer opportunities, apprenticeships, agriculture experience, and much more to give our students a broad and well-rounded learning experience. Being adept academically is important to us; however, we also place keen emphasis on serving others, obtaining life skills, and learning trades.
We encourage our students to ask questions, try new things, and wholeheartedly explore the amazing world around them! The staff at LJDH works to ensure that every student has every opportunity possible to discover and expand their knowledge, talents, and abilities. Here are highlights of our education program:
-A home-like, nurturing, and supportive learning environment
-Engaging and dynamic classes with a low student to teacher ratio
-Cultural education, awareness, and inclusion
-Life skills preparation (e.g., time management, home economics, organization, manners, communication, confidence, conflict resolution)
-Inclusion of the arts, languages, STEM/computer lab, and sports
-Missions, community outreach, volunteer, and apprenticeship opportunities
-Farm-to-School Program - an on-site agriculture program (farming and livestock)
-Share Care Program - students serving others and assisting with daily school-wide tasks
-Roots Program through which elders can mentor our students
-Enriching field trips
-Healthy Meals Program - healthy and hearty foods prepared on-site
Christ - The Cornerstone
At LJDH, Jesus is our is our Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20-22). We started with a vision that He placed on our hearts to serve and love our children and community greater; to make learning exhilarating and accessible; and to provide an environment where the unconditional love of Christ would always be genuinely exhibited. As the Word of God instructs us to let the little children come (Matthew 19:14) and to bring up the children in the way that they should go (Proverbs 22:6), we will support, nurture, and instruct our students according to the Word of the Lord. We are excited to offer, as part of our education program, Christian-based curriculum, life-giving and encouraging Bible/discipleship studies, and regular chapel services.
The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, who is mighty, just, and full of love and grace, is our guiding light (Revelation 5:5). We take very seriously Christ’s commission to love others and to spread the Good News of the Gospel through evangelism and discipleship (Matthew 28:16-20). Everyone involved with LJDH has been greatly impacted by the unconditional love and grace of Christ. Therefore, with Christ on our side, we all daily strive to learn life through love [mind • body • soul].
Fiscal Sponsorship
The Lion of Judah Discipleship Hall (LJDH) is in the process of obtaining its 501(c)(3) status. In the meantime, LJDH is fully operational under the legal coverage of sponsorship provided by Wholly Committed Ministries (WCM), a 501(c)(3) community outreach organization. For over 15 years, WCM has served various needs within Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas. WCM provides food, clothing, social services assistance, back to school and holiday outreaches, health fares, family counseling services, youth programs, and much more at no charge to anyone in need. As WCM and LJDH share a vision of service, exuding love, and offering hope through Christ, WCM has kindly agreed to assist in our formation. All donations received will be accepted by WCM and dispersed directly to LJDH. Please check out WCM and the wonderful things they are doing in the community at whollycommitted.com.
The Need
We’ve set a fundraising goal of $250,000 to be used for the following:
1. A BUILDING - We are currently located in a one room building. However, our goal is to serve grades K - 12; therefore, more space is required. We plan to purchase a property located on acreage, which will allow us adequate space to:
-House grades K - 12
-Operate a computer and STEM lab
-Include fine arts (theater, art, and music)
-Operate a kitchen, assembly and dining areas, restrooms, and administrative office
-Conduct a P.E. and sports program
-Facilitate an agriculture program for farming and livestock
-Ensure that all areas are accessible for all abilities
2. OPERATIONS - Funds received would be dedicated to utilities, insurance, legal, general operations, and maintenance costs. Additionally, because we wholeheartedly desire to be good stewards of what God blesses us with, we commit to building and operating energy efficiently.
3. INSTRUCTION - Our students are served by compassionate and skilled instructors. In order to ensure this, our staff receives training on topics such as Exceptional Needs, Classroom Management, and Educational Innovations. Funds received will be dedicated to effective staff training, curriculum, classroom supplies, and salaries.
4. TUITION SCHOLARSHIP - As we strongly believe that education, as well as any program that we offer, should be available at no charge to every child and family, our goal is to eventually operate tuition free. In the meantime, we’re offering low tuition for the 9 month school year. Tuition scholarships make it possible for low-income families to attend free or at a discount.
The Deadline
The LJDH officially began classes in the Fall of 2018. However, by 2019, our goal is to have our building completed so that we may serve more students. Funds are needed now to purchase a building and acreage and to assist with the costs outlined above in the section entitled ‘The Need’.
From the Bottom of Our Hearts
Your donation of ANY amount is very much a blessing to us. Your donation is a seed because it is a real investment into the positive growth of our students, their families, and the community. We started with a vision, fueled by a passion to love, serve, and fulfill God’s calling. We believe God for miracles, that nothing is impossible for Him, and that you’ve not come across our campaign accidentally. As we ask you for your support, we pray also for your well-being and we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity.
