A Boy and his Liver

Donation protected

It all started with a chicken coop. An experiment with housing for poultry ended in cellulitis and wonky blood tests. The wonky lab work, tests and biopsies have all come to a dreaded diagnosis. My husband, Kristopher, was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver on 1/12/17. The very next day, Friday the 13th (his birthday), he was in the hospital suffering from dehydration, dilerium, severely low blood sugar, low blood pressure and severe swelling in his limbs. He was diagnosed with hepatorenal syndrome, hypoglycemia and low blood pressure. His liver is failing rapidly. He was released 1/19/17 with a wealth of new information regarding his condition along with new worries. We have been refered to a great team of transplant doctors at the University of Alabama Birmingham and have an excellent group of nurses and doctors supporting us within the Jackson Hospital system. We have been told Kris is an excellent candidate for transplant, and these great people are working hard to get this ball rolling as quickly as possible. We have been told we have good insurance, but there are expenses that will not be covered during this process such as lodging, transportation, food, co-pays and other necessities. We are terrified. We have researched expenses and have found that the average liver transplant, even with insurance, can cost over $100,000.00. We have never felt so lost in our lives. This man has been my rock for 23 years. I don't want to face the rest of my time on this earth without him. Thats' why I'm asking, pleading for your help. With your help, we can give the funniest guy I know a chance to keep his quick witt, his wicked sense of humor and sly grin. He also has a great talent for mimicry. If you donate today, Kris will send you a personal greeting of thanks using one of his many perfected accents. By the way, Seth McFarlane, if you're seeing this, Kris is hilarious and works for peanuts. Okay, maybe not peanuts, but greek yogurt work be fine. Bless you all, thanks in advance and take care out there.
