A new heart, a long recovery

Donation protected
I’m raising money to help the most amazing family a little through the hardest of times.

Dave, Louise and their little son George are from Wigan but currently Dave is 2.5 hours away in freeman hospital’s intensive care unit following a heart transplant a few months ago which has resulted in multiple complications.

After desperately waiting for a transplant for years, living with an lvad device in the mean time and overcoming numerous set backs Dave finally got the call and the heart he’d been waiting for. Louise told me how Dave was mainly excited to be ‘wire free’ and able to take his little boy swimming once he had his new heart.

Unfortunately Dave suffered major bleeding after his transplant and multiple surgeries later the bleeding had stopped but so had the new heart. After using multiple life support machines Dave has now had a Berlin heart fitted which they hope in months to come will allow him to leave intensive care and start his long road to recovery whatever that may be. Dave has survived and fought through the unimaginable throughout this process.

Despite living hours away from the freeman hospital and having a young son Louise has not left his side, she’s a rock and one of the most strong and positive people I’ve ever met.

Louise has now been informed that almost all of Dave’s benefits will be stopped whilst he remains in hospital despite the financial pressure that comes with supporting someone in hospital, trying to keep a home and look after herself and her son. Louise fears she may lose their family home as they will no longer be able to afford to stay there. Dave and Louise have been dragged through hell and back and now face the long road to recovery to being able to be together as a family again.

If anyone could spare anything to give a wonderful young family one less thing to worry about it and the chance to remain as normal as possible it would be greatly appreciated.

Louise splits her time between a flat at the freeman hospital and her home in Wigan. Louise and Dave are husband and wife and the first couple to ever get married in intensive care at the freeman they have a young son and they don’t deserve to be torn apart anymore than they already are because of money worries.

Lets all make these impossible times a little more possible.
