A Need for Nic

Donation protected
Health and Healing can only  be  achieved when an individual receives a solid night's sleep.  With back problems and other lifelong medical needs, getting a good rest can be difficult.  A supportive bed recommended by one's medical team can make all the difference.  The problem is, quality beds can be expensive.  Amidst ongoing medical bills after years of disease and challenges, affording the right kind of bed can be next to impossible.

Despite working hard and overcoming so many obstacles, 'getting ahead' just isn't that easy.  As the friends and family of Nic - we'd like to share with you his story.  It is our prayer that after reading what he has endured, you will join us in raising the funds to bless him with a new bed ( like many of us he doesn't prioritize himself or his health need ).  While he continues to pay medical bills for care that will be lifelong, it only takes a few generous people to provide a life changing need.  Our goal is to raise $3,000.00 by May 30, 2017.

Here's the story of Nic:

Nic is a cancer survivor who graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Biochemistry in May 2009.  Just two weeks after his graduation, he fell sick and was admitted to the U of M medical center with Acute Biphenotypic Leukemia. He and his two siblings are all Type I diabetics, so we are no strangers to chronic illness, but this was cancer.

Complications came:  infection with fungal pneumonia, multiple rounds of chemotherapy,  kidney failure, reliance on a respirator, lung removal, stem cell transplant, and side effects from the treatments including eye disease and neuropathy.   He was given a very slim chance of surviving.  But God had other plans!

After he was cancer-free almost a year,  he was walking on a Minneapolis street and stepped on a patch of ice, flew up in the air, and crashed down breaking his upper femur in two places.  Immediate surgery repaired the hip and leg, but left him using a wheelchair for 3 months.

Nic is doing well now – he is a survivor. He lives independently and is now employed at a local company.  He is surviving, but we want him to thrive!  We want to see him well rested, in his best health, and reaching his full potential.   Join us in providing a bed for Nic to receive the rest  and physical support he needs to achieve his own optimum health and success.

Thank you.
