My name is Mercedes Garibay I am the mother of Isabel who is 26 yrs old my daughter was recently diagnosed with a rare type of lung cancer. Her family and friends are hopeful and have faith she can fight this. She has served as a specialist in the Army Reserve for 6 years and is currently a Police Officer in the City of Indio. Being that her cancer is rare, her doctors from Eisenhower Medical Center were able to seek treatment for her at UC San Diego where they specialize in the rare lung cancer Isabel is fighting. Isabel has risked her life serving the community she was raised in and now her family asks for support to help her receive the treatment she needs. All donations received will go towards cancer treatment as well as the commute and stay for the us the family to be by her side through this horrible journey of fighting cancer...

With a void in my heart and with the deepest regret I have to inform our beloved Isabel Velasquez (Chave) has passed away. She fought a hard fight but she’s resting now. You will always live on in the hearts of all of us who loved you and cherished you.
Rest In Peace Chave, until we meet again we love you very much❤️

Funeral Services for my daughter Officer Velasquez are being arranged, we will let everyone know info. as soon as possible. ALSO It is now our goal to have my daughter Officer Velasquez #455 memorialized in the city she served and protected. Her young life was dedicated to the public she’s a hero and role model to us and our future generations.... donations will also go towards helping honor with a billboard to keep her legacy alive- you can be a part of helping make this come together.
