Rafal suffered a very serious accident and it was a big shock for all of us... As a result of a shot into his left eye, Rafal lost his sight. Miraculously he was able to keep his eyeball, and during that time he underwent 5 surgical procedures which we paid out of our own pocket because the school my son attended in Poland was not covered under any insurance policy. Let us go back to the day of the accident and the fact of how it happened. Rafal attended a military high school in Stalowa Wola, Poland at that time and the school had its own shooting range. As it later turned out, the shooting range did not meet any safety criteria and it was run illegally. On the day of the accident my son passed his shooting exam and the negligence of the school principal, shooting instructors, and all other people involved led to terrible consequences. The missile ricochet hit my son's eye. The shooting instructor made the situation ever worse by placing toilet paper brought from a school bathroom on a blood-splashing wound. In a critical condition, bleeding out, Rafal was was transported to the specialist medical clinic by a helicopter. It's tragic what happened to my child. A young man who was full of dreams and always smiling lost everything in one moment. His life as he knew has turned upside down, and his plans and dreams have been turned into ruins. Before the accident, he dreamt of becoming a professional motorcycle racer and he wanted to be like his idol Valentino Rossi. My dear friends, I ask you to provide financial support for my son. My family has very little time to accumulate this huge amount of money, as all the fragments necessary for eye reconstruction need to be ordered several weeks before the surgery. The surgical intervention is necessary because of the very severe pain my son suffers during the pressure attacks. These pains are considered to be higher on a scale than the pain women experience during child birth. Imagine what it is like to know that they will cut your eye again. Moreover, the second eye is also threatened due to the fact it took over the function of the left eye, which serves only as a prosthesis devoid of any function of seeing. Unfortunately, the constant struggle and fights with the city authorities and all those who try to conceal the accident, as well as 5 surgeries have taken up all our resources. We are only human and we cannot afford it, but if we stop now, all the pain that my son has endured and all our efforts will go to waste. Post-accident wounds and scars are growing, and the remaining possible drugs stop working. The only chance for Rafal is your help and the divine hands of Professor Ferenc Kuhn who is able to conduct an urgent reconstruction surgery of specific sections of the eye (it is not refunded by the Polish NHS). So far the expenses for the medical treatment have been covered by my family because school did not take out civil liability insurance to cover the medical expenditures. The costs are rising with each day, that is why I am asking for your help. Thank you in advance!
