Recently a tragic event has taken place in Las Vegas. Sheldon and his friends were in Vegas for a fun weekend trip as he has just turned 21. what was meant to be a fun trip has now turned into a life altering, horrible experience. Sheldon was attending a country music event when a shooter opened fire on the innocent people in the crowd. Sheldon was hit both in the wrist and in the abdomen. He was immediately rushed to hospital and into emergency surgery where a portion of his colon was removed. Sheldon is currently in intensive care with his family by his side. Due to the serious nature of his injuries it will not be possible to move sheldon back to canada for some time. Because of these aspects of Shel's situation: the serious nature of his injuries and the cost for his family to travel and stay to Las Vegas to be with him- the Macks are under a large amount of financial strain. Please help in contributing to this gofundme to help lift some of this financial strain so they can focus on supporting Sheldon and helping him heal. As this is an awful event none of us could have predicted the concern of coverage is major for the Mack family. While a percentage of the hospital fees may be covered, it is not known how much will not. Your donation will contribute to the mack family's travel, Sheldon's safe return to Canada and the long road to physical & mental rehabilitation Sheldon will now be on. Any amount will help as will any level of sharing of this page. please donate and support Sheldon and the Mack family.
It still blows my mind the generosity that has been shown for this page and for the Mack family & Sheldon. There is no way to show our gratitude for all that has been done. We were lucky enough to reach our goal and so this go fund me page will be deactivated in the next day so that other go fund me campaigns can gain support. Thank you again to everyone for helping in any way they could. Love and godbless.
Sheldon is finally home. After a couple weeks in a Las Vegas hospital, a medical flight home, and nearly another week in hospital in victoria-he is home. While there is still a long road to recovery and rehabilitation, Sheldon is doing great and able to finally enjoy the creature comforts of his own home. The love and generosity for the Mack family and this page has exceeded all expectation, there is no way to adequately express the gratitude for this support. Thank you to everyone who has liked, shared, retweeted, or helped promote this page in any way. Thank you of course to anyone who has donated to this page and left kind thoughts and well wishes. Thank you to anyone who has sent cards, flowers, meals, gift baskets, and any other kind things to lift sheldon's spirits. Lastly thank you to those of you who have not let cynicism lead your thinking and actions. A huge challenge Sheldon and the Mack family have dealt with in the wake of this tragedy is unknowns. A major unknown is coverage. What will be covered by the Las Vegas fund, what will be covered by the Canadian government, what (if any) will be covered by the American government. The answers are still unknown. Thus this gofundme was created (not to mention covering travel costs for the Mack family, rehabilitation and preparation for Sheldon once he returned home, lost work by everyone in the Mack family, etc). Your love and support is so appreciated and I can't thank everyone enough for helping us exceed our goals.
Happy thanksgiving to all! In light of giving thanks this post is devoted to expressing gratitude to everyone for their generosity and love in this past week. Originally this go fund me page had a goal set of 10,000, but in just 5 days that goal has nearly been tripled. This page has been shared over 1000 times, there are hundreds of thoughtful messages, and even kindness in the form of cards, food and other gifts sent to the Macks IRL. I can not begin to express my thanks for this love & support! There are bad people out there, and sometimes bad things happen to good people... but there are a lot of good people out there who want to help when bad things happen. This is a huge thank you to everyone out there who has helped in the wake of a bad thing happening. This is a thank you to all of you out there reminding us that there are good people people out there doing good things. Happy thanksgiving and godbless.
The generosity & caring showed in these past days is overwhelming! The community support and love for Sheldon & the Macks is touching and inspiring! It is humbling to see even complete strangers contribute to the support of the Mack family, not to mention the countless prayers, well wishes, and selfless donations by friends and loved ones! Sheldon is growing stronger every day and your support is a huge factor in that! As of yesterday Sheldon was able to begin a liquid diet and he hopes to be back onto solids soon. The Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center has done a great job in pairing Sheldon up with a physical therapist who Hamilton tells me is a perfect fit! The physical therapist Peter not only has football and a connection to Victoria in common with Sheldon, but a fantastic attitude that's helped bring hope to Shel's healing process. Peter even got Shel up and walking a couple laps of the ward yesterday! Thanks again for your continued support & generosity, please continue to like and share this page so it can reach the largest number of people possible & we can continue to help the Mack family. <3
