Have you ever met a Super Mom? Not just a mom... the kind of woman who is known as "mom" to every young adult she meets, the kind that spends every waking moment thinking of her kids, the kind that volunteers for every parent advisory board or PTA, that single mom who works full time but still finds time to help sell fireworks in the 113 degree Las Vegas heat to help fund her children's extra-curricular activities... That's our Debbie
July 27th 2017, Debbie went to the emergency room with a terrible stomachache and severe nausea. Urgent care physicians suspected a gallbladder attack. Tests and scans showed a problem. She was informed she needed to seek out an oncologist.
August 21st, 2017, Debbie was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Her daughter, Patience had just started college and younger daughter, Jessica, had yet to finish high school. She told the doctors she would do whatever she had to do to try to beat this beastly disease. The following Monday, she started chemotherapy. Every other week she diligently showed up for treatment.
Debbie spoke with her employer and was able to make arrangements to work from home on treatment days as much as their business could allow. Debbie is the sole provider for her children and their generosity meant Debbie could seek treatment and still provide for her family. Unfortunately, there were days she physically could not perform her job and she was forced to utilize sick and vacation days. She has been forced to take leave without pay to continue her treatment but works every day she can possibly endure.
A recent scan showed the cancer had spread to Debbie's spine and liver. The doctors adjusted her chemotherapy. The new drugs have just ravaged Debbie's body. She is barely able to go to work, but she goes every chance she can. Her paychecks are getting smaller and smaller. Unfortunately, her monthly bills are really the only things not diminishing.
Last week, Debbie's doctors called her and told her to go to the Emergency Room as her liver enzyme levels in her latest labs were critical. Doctors told her they would have to put a drain in her liver due to the high level of toxins in her system. The surgery was supposed to last approximately 30 minutes. It took the doctors almost 4 hours to weave the drain around all of the tumors in her liver. Unfortunately they are not happy with the placement and they have to replace the drain on Monday, January 28, 2019. Tests show Debbie's toxin levels are still rising despite the drain.
It looks as tho Debbie will not be able to return to work for quite some time, if ever.
Debbie has been so positive through this whole ordeal. She has made sure her Patience continued her college education and proudly watched Jessica graduate. She's continued to be that Super Mom, even when she's had to cheer from the sidelines because she was too weak to join in.
Funds are desperately needed to assist Debbie with her insurance deductible, co-insurance, mortgage, mobile home space rental, electrical, gas and other monthly living expenses.
Please help our friend any way you possibly can. Small donations add up and prayers are ALWAYS welcome.
