Young Kings, Inc. Recruitment Trip

This summer, over a period of eight days, nine to ten local high school junior and senior football players will embark on a college road trip beginning on July 16, 2017 to visit twenty to twenty-five colleges and universities spanning from Florida to Massachusetts. They will participate in four football camps to showcase their talents and meet with coaches and school administrators. The experience will expose the student-athletes to the colleges and their coaches, and give the coaches an opportunity to learn more about the student-athletes. Unfortunately, the trip will be costly and your support is needed to make this year’s trip a reality.

It is important that the student-athletes have this experience. The student-athletes come from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Without fundraising, it is likely that some of the players would not be able to make a trip of this type. In addition to the experience, it is possible that the visits and meetings could lead to players eventually receiving a scholarship, or simply choosing, to attend one of the colleges that they visited. This would be positive for Robinson and Cocoa High School and the surrounding community.

Our goal is to raise $6,500 to fund the cost of travel, lodging, food, and the cost of the football camps for each player. The cost includes $1200 for football camps, $3,000 for lodging and food $1,300 for gas, and $800 for car rental.  We have received a discounted rate from National Car Rental and we hope to have a few commitments from local businesses. Additionally, the student-athletes will have a car washes and helmet drives to raise funds. The student-athletes have also offered to work at the local businesses in exchange for donations.

Here’s an example of the impact of your gift:

$100 gift will purchase one hotel room for one night

$500 gift will purchase nearly half the the gas for the entire trip

$1,000 gift will pay for most of the camp fees for all the student-athletes

$3,000 gift will pay for the entire trip’s hotel cost and purchase all food for the entire trip

The college road trip will present a number of motivated and dedicated student-athletes, some of which are of limited financial means, with an experience they might otherwise not have. The trip will expose them to the college atmosphere and put them in front of college coaches. The trip will increase the likelihood that the student-athletes will have the opportunity to go to college.
