"Wings to Fly" Children's Book

Narrated by Scooter the Loquatian,  a loquacious owl  that lives in the Loquat tree, has long floppy ears and  is red, yellow, orange, and pink, "Wings to Fly" is about Scooter's quest to fly and the friendships of the community of the Loquat tree.   "My name is Scooter because that is how I get by.  I scoot from limb to limb because I can't fly."   From the imagination of Jennifer Utsch (aka Jendala),  "Wings to Fly" encourages to children believe in oneself, to care about their body, community, and environment.     Scooter plans a surprise birthday for Jesse, a dog filled with love.  As the ants dance in their fancy pants, and the hummingbirds and bees sing in harmony, it was pure joy Scooter felt for Jesse and all the friends on the patio that Scooter began to fly.   "Wings to Fly" teaches that  it's in the magic of letting go and celebrating the breath of your unique self that aligns with the power of flight.

Imagined by Jennifer Utsch, aka Jendala, Scooter was inspired by a dream in 2008, where dialogue with the Loquatian began.    Illustrated by Tara Seren, each page reaches into Scooter's lucid, bright, and playful world.

After years of meeting the characters, real and imagined, and learning their stories, Jendala's creations are ripe to share. The platform for sharing is the Land of Jendala, where children will learn the most important belief of all... to  trust yourself.  This is a land where everything is possible, the vision leads the way, and virtues are your strengths.

By supporting "Wings to Fly," you will be helping build the Land of Jendala and giving children the gift of self-worth, teaching to believe in oneself and to stay true to your values.  Funds raised for this Go Fund Me will help cover 501c3 costs as The Land of Jendala forms creating a platform for kids to express their authentic selves.  Currently Jendala hosts a free after school program on Wednesday at her art studio where the kids explore art, theatre, dance, and music while creating projects that give back to the community.

About Jendala Productions

Imagined and created by artisan Jennifer Utsch,  Jendala Productions resulted from the insatiable quest to follow her passions.  Jennifer has always had a yearning to learn about other ways of life and perceptions, which led her to study Spanish and International Relations in college.  After college, she became a Sheriff’s Deputy, taught Spanish for law enforcement, and then became a firefighter because she wanted to serve the community. The beauty and remarkable power of fire sparked her passion, which led to creating metal art utilizing an oxy-acetylene torch.

Jendala is committed to creating wellbeing through sparking the imagination and encouraging self-exploration and self-worth, while bridging diversity and aligning to our own purpose.   When Jendala Productions was established in 1998, Jennifer followed a creative process of mistakes and successes creating a successful metal art business.  Forming post-consumer "tin" cans into candleabras   sparked the creation of Jendala's personalized inspirational metal messages. Twenty years later, Jendala celebrates a sustainable, uplifting, and quality art that brings a smile and story to the space it adorns.  By the way, "Wings to Fly" is written in Jendala's fire torched font, with each letter having been melted by hand into recycled metal.

Now, at a 20 year milestone of sending positive metal messages out into the world, Jennifer is excited to devote her time to the wellbeing of children.  The fun of connecting all the characters in Jendala's product-line to their stories in the Land of Jendala is just beginning.  Kids will get to meet Sadie the Bee, Jorge the Buffalo, Soleil the Butterfly, Bodhi the Giraffe, Quigley the Penguin, Gregorio the Ant, and Scooter the Loquatian.  Jendala's youthful and vibrant imagination is carving its way from torched metalsmithing to storytelling.  The foundation has been poured for the home of Jendala, nestled in the wondrous and exciting Land of Jendala.  Stay tuned for so much more to come!

What is the Land of Jendala?

The Land of Jendala's mission is to support children in discovering their self-worth by inspiring the creative process thru play, imagination, feeling, and connection; a space in which children can be themselves in a safe and inspiring environment.  They can express their emotions in encouraging heart led thinking.  In this land, we use visual art, theater, music, and dance as our tools to collaborate and individuate. Children thrive when given quality time and attention - to be heard, to be validated, to be guided, to be taught, to be comforted, to be safe, to be challenged, to be respectful, to be curious, to be healthy, to be strong, to be educated, to be given opportunities, to be supported, to be compassionate, to be self-confident and aware, to not be scared.  Creating supportive spaces for our children offers them a choice to think for themselves, decide for themselves, and succeed for themselves.  Knowing that values and boundaries empower their life, children learn that they have the authority to make healthy choices that lead them on their own self-directed path.  Teaching values of authenticity, kindness, respect, honesty, sustainability, and collaboration provide the tools to live a rewarding life.
