Nicu Warrior- Weston Peters

Donation protected

Hello, I am Weston Peters.
An emergency C-section in Omaha, Nebraska brought me into this world at the young abrupt age of 28 weeks and 5 days. I will now spend the next several months in the NICU while I continue to grow and develop since I only weigh 2 pounds 5 oz.
This however, comes at a very costly expense for my parents Alyssa Randall and John (Bubba) Peters.
The amount of my medical expenses at this point are unforeseeable and completely depend on my progress throughout my time in the NICU. I came into the world facing a lot of uncertainty. I have been placed on oxygen via a CPAP mask to help my breathing due to immature lung growth. I am currently tube fed, as my body does not have the strength to assist in feeding. My weight gain will be a constant uphill battle. I undergo routine sonograms of my brain to rule out any bleeding, a symptom common in babies this premature. My lungs and eyes are also closely monitored due to high risk of defect and abnormality caused by my prematurity. I also undergo continuous echocardiograms of my heart, and my future health status remains unknown at this time.

As many of you know, most women get up to 12 weeks maternity leave to help care and heal from the arrival of their new bundle of joy. However, with my early arrival, maternity leave will most likely not be able to cover the amount of time I will be spending in the NICU. While I am in the NICU, my parents are encouraged and want to spend as much time with me as they can while I am in the hospital, this absorbs a lot of time and money from my family before I have even left the hospital. Combine these costs with the medical bills from severe preeclampsia that my mother was diagnosed and admitted into the hospital on bedrest a few days before I was born.

Due to my very early arrival, my mother never had the chance to have a baby shower to help obtain some of the very vital things to support my growing and developing.
With the costs of my medical bills, my mom’s medical bills and the cost of gas between Fort Calhoun and the hospital (30 miles), so that I can bond with my parents in these crucial first months, my parents could use your help.

It is my hope that you will find it in your heart to support us with whatever amount you are able. No amount is too small. This fund will help to lift the financial burden of income changes in my home as well as help my transition home by allowing my mom and dad to be there with me when that time comes. In addition to travel expenses and lost wages, medical bills have not arrived yet for the time my mother and I have spent in the hospital.

Ali Parks, created this for those of you who do not know, I have been best friends with Alyssa for most of my childhood/adult life. I now am good friends with Bubba as well. If you know the two of them, you know they work very hard and if able, they would take care of this completely on their own.  Please contact me if you would like to donate non-monetary items.
