Support for the Diaz Family (Emily)

Donation protected
Emily Diaz is a beautiful, wonderfully talented 5th grade student at Eugene Field Elementary School who adores her family, loves to read, work on math problems with her friends and draw. Until very recently, Emily appeared to be the picture of health.

A few weeks ago, Emily's classmates and family noticed a red rash on her forearms. Concerned about the skin lesions, Emily's parents took her to see her pediatrician after school to see what was going on with her skin. Emily was immediately diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Lukemia (AML). Devastated, her dad came to the school to report Emily's condition. His first concern was making sure Emily did not fall behind in her studies. This just goes to show you how dedicated Emily and her family are to her education.

Emily was immediately admitted to Lurie's Children Hospital for chemotherapy. Doctors say she will need at least 5 months of chemotherapy.

With a family of five (3 children), the Diaz family will need a tremendous amount of prayer, love and financial support as they go through this health challenge. Caring for Emily will require a lot of sacrifice for the Diaz family; missed work and loss of income as both parents shuttle to and from the hospital to tend to Emily's needs.

As a school community (Eugene Field & New Field), we are asking for help to support the Diaz family in their time of need as they work towards Emily's full recovery.
