The Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is an established not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business that currently operates by remote location to facilitate operations for transport, foster, and adoption events to aid in the rescue of puppies and kittens whom are at risk of euthanasia across shelters in Mississippi. Wolf Trap Animal Rescue operations began on May 9th, 2015.  Since May 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue has successfully adopted over 670 dogs & puppies, and 32 cats & kittens, with a total of over 776 animals rescued from euthanasia.  The rescue has an amazing network of volunteers and fosters that are dedicated to help save more lives through this rescue program.

Wolf Trap Animal Rescue’s primary mission is to support a life-saving foster, transport, and adoption program which was developed in order to rescue young animals in danger of being euthanized in Mississippi. Rescued animals are transported by volunteers of Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, where pets reside in foster homes until they find their forever home through on-site adoption events located at designated PetSmart Charities® and Unleashed by PETCO locations.

The secondary mission of the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is to provide exceptional health and preventative care services for clients of the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue and their pets. Currently, the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue provides this service by offering at-home visits and wellness exams for recently adopted pets by our Staff Veterinarian, Dr. Amber Burton. In addition, the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue focuses on providing exceptional customer and quality service in order to build and retain a loyal clientele.

In order to fasciliate both missions of the rescue, a primary location is needed to offer these services to the highest standard of care.   Once funding and build-out can be obtained, the location would primarily serve as a Veterinary Hospital and Surgery Clinic, one that can provide low-cost surgical and health services to the public, as well as provide much needed surgical services to the rescue animals in conjunction with animal rescue operations.  The proposed location is at 2807 Juniper Street, Fairfax, VA, in the heart of the Mosaic/Dunn Loring Industrial District.

An additional use would be to serve an immediate need as an employee office (1-2 employees – adding on additional staff as growth allows) during normal business hours as well as to allow rescue operations for transport, intake, and storage of the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue supplies.

This physical location will allow interested personnel and potential donors an opportunity to schedule office meetings to learn more about the entity and its mission.
No animals will be boarded at this location, except for hospitalized patients of the rescue.  A standard 120-day build-out will allow for proper permit use, build-out, and the complete function of operations.

The Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is directed by a board of three health-professional board members with extensive animal and welfare experience, Dr. Meghan Johnson (President), Dr. Katie Kramer (Treasurer), and Dr. Sarah Kalivoda (Secretary). The primary operation of the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is maintained by two full-time employees, Dr. Amber Burton, Director of Veterinary Operations, and Jesse Marsh, Accountant and Operations Manager.  The Wolf Trap Animal Rescue  has one part-time employee, Kimberly Pettit, Operations/Adoptions Manager.

Dr. Burton graduated from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. After a 1-year post-doctoral rotating internship with the Tulsa City Animal Welfare and Oklahoma State’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, she pursued eligibility for specialization in Shelter Medicine and Surgery by completion of a Residency at Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine from 2011-2014.  During this time, she also recieved her Master's of Business Administration from Mississippi State Unviersity.

After completion of his bachelors of accounting, Jesse Marsh worked in the warehouse industry as a general manager. He has extensive accounting experience in account receivables, account payables, and general book keeping in the non-profit and animal rescue sector. He also has additional experience as a veterinary assistant with animal handling, care, and assisting veterinarians.

Kimberly Pettit recieved her bachelor's degree in Psychology and her Master's of Business Administration Degree from Mississippi State University.  She has extensive experience in non-profit management and recruiting.  She currently works as a Consultant for KPMG.
